The Red and Green LED Lights

Now I don't know about all brands of quads but I have 2 syma quads a x5sw and a x25sw both and my friends unknown brand quad have red lights at the front and green at the rear? what confuses my is why didn't the brilliant minds that design these things use the red and green as Port and Starboard?
aka left and right ? and then when you think about it some more RED is usually a tail light not a front light ? I think I might pull mine to bits and move the lenses so at least I know my left from my right

But then how would you know the front from the rear? That's the intention. BTW it's not a car. Here's the real reason they're oriented like this: When you do a calibration, the quad is sitting on the ground facing you. When calibrated, the LEDs flash to confirm calibration is complete. Same with arming etc. LEDs flash a sequence. Red's easier to see than green

Ahh yes, you would know front from rear. If I know my left and my right, I know my front and rear automatically.

Same thing applies to boats. And assigns the "right-of-way"

Also, to each his own. But, when the quad is on the ground. It always faces away from me. And any calibration status information can be communicated to me irregardless of where the lights are on the quad.

So. I agree that following the existing convention for aircraft and ships makes more sense. But, that just my opinion......

That is cool! Unfortunately I have not built my own quad yet. Maybe soon.

back from front yeah fair enough then maybe clear headlights on the front and red in the rear clear leds are pretty bright like a headlight halo on the front double as a flash that would be cool

Oh yeah headlight/landing lights that would follow the camera on a gimble.
I want that!
