Here's just one more reason we need an off topic board.

I got this foamy from my dad, I was telling him that I needed a new project, and he pulled this red eagle Gee bee out that he has apparently had for a few years.

He also has a huge box full of escs, random motors, props, servos and a bunch of other stuff he amassed while he was into model aviation, most of it still in its original packaging.

So who has any experience with these? I'd like to know what people are usually putting in them as far as components go, as well as any construction tips.

Of course in about to spend a few hours (read: days) looking up videos and stuff, but I thought I might come here first and see what you guys had to say.

hope it goes well! my first RC thing was actually a foam glider back in 2006, i was like 17, though it was a horrible experience, i put it together, and everything but when i went to take off, it didnt go up and it crashed on the ground and the wing broke just gonna stick to quads lol

I have been thinking about a DIY foamy. Looks like cheap fun. Flite Test has lots of videos about them with many tricks/tips on construction.

I'll let you guys know how it goes, it looks like loads of fun to me and you could build your own frame out of foam from any craft store if you wanted. The servos and control arms are going to be interesting to figure out how and where they go but after that it should be a fun little build

Apparently they've sold it for awhile now, but this one was purchased a few years ago. One of my biggest questions is how do I attach the flaps to the wings? It comes with these little things that look almost like paper gaskets, and from my understanding I glue one end of them to the actual wing, and the other end to the flap? I'm not 100 percent sure though

Hi mate yes thats right dont forget to make sure the flap can move its full range both ways , dont use normal CA it will melt, if you want to use CA it has to be foam safe ,you can use a sticky tape to hold the flaps to the wings
Its not as hard to build as a quad and less to set up its a plane 3D trainer once you master that your be able to jump to this

And this has it all planes quads and a goblin heli

So this thread has been completely derailed, but so far I've gathered that 9 gram servos will work. I have a 2209 1050 kv motor, will that be fine running like a 10 inch prop?

The plane I have a design for makes it look like a Predator Spy Plane running on an 25cc gas pusher prop. With a 1 gallon fuel tank it can stay up for most of the day. Put in a GoPro and use FPV controls and GPS guidance, it could orbit the neighborhood at 400 feet keeping watch for bad guys. Bet that would put the cops whites in a knot.
