[Question] Syma x5c gradually losing power

Syma uses actual grease on it's X8's gears. I think it would be a bad idea to add a dri-lube to it. If you ever open it up to change a motor you'll see the grease slathered on the gears. For some of the smaller quads with exposed gears on the bottom of the pods a dri-lube could help.

Are you saying that flight boards have a lifespan? Obviously so for motors but I'm not sure I've every heard that you only get so many flights on the board. It's possible something is wrong with it but I didn't think they wear out. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If it is the board, it's only a $12 part but it needs to be soldered in.
 
Might be that vibration could break solder joints and it be more vulnerable over time? Though I've found that bad soldering breaks early on except in relatively rare cases. Never heard of any type of limit, however I've noticed that a board that has 100 flights is usually going to be more reliable than one with 2 good flights. Weird thing happen all of time in this hobby hahaha

That's my knowledge and experience also. Vibration could certainly be an issue, but even then unless it's a cold-solder joint or extremely flimsy wiring, if they make it past the burn-in period it should be good forever.

Do those little ESCs on brushed boards get hot? That could potentially limit their life. My Syma X8C has heat sinks. So maybe if the cooling isn't sufficient on a particular board, that could indeed shorten their lifespan just as with any electronics.

Generally the ESCs on a brushed boar are integrated into the FCB, or are as simple as a little transistor. Designs vary a lot.
