I usually keep all of mine updated. If they get out of sync you will be hosed. Sucks to get on the job site and video will not come in and you cannot update due to no wifi to update the app
I have a regular iPad. I think I will not upgrade the mini for several weeks at least.Solution #1: Buy a new Tablet with the new iOS on it. Keep the old tablet with the old iOS on it for use with your drone. Just because Apple tells you to upgrade, doesn't mean you have to.
I Googled the issue. The DJI Forum has up to date information on all of this. It turns out I am running the most current IOS (11.2.6) - I was mistaken that Apple wanted an update. What it was doing was telling me to backup the iPad, not install a new IOS. Nonetheless, I learned a lot about what to do when the next IOS update comes along. Thanks for your thoughts. The Go 4 app will work fine on earlier versions of iOS. That's not to say you shouldn't update, but read and ask a ton of questions before you do. DJI will always update the app to be compatible with the latest version of iOS but it may not happen immediately, so don't be in a rush to update the OS. 11.2.4 (I think it was) had some compatibility issues with the Go 4 app. DJI resolved them, but there was a few days that early-updaters were grounded.
