Help! old dude here that doesnt have a clue!

I just got a Syma X8G and then got a Syma wifi camera because I wanted to do an FPV deal. Then I downloaded the Syma FPV app on my Galaxy S5. I cannot get the phone to see the camera. Is this cam even compatible with the X8G?
 
Congratulations! Now, learning how to fly it is the fun part. I hope you are successful, I'm still trying to learn how to make mine avoid hitting every tree in the forest, every bush in the county, every car on the highway and go higher than a blade of tall grass.
 
I learned how to fly it into the ceiling fan of our living room and then into the picture window's mini blinds. The wife immediately showed me the door to the doghouse. While I'm out here I am waiting for the winds to calm down to try to fly it without it soaring out of range or into the garage.
 
Hi mate FPV is a skill of its own learn to fly line of sight with the quad first to master the controls , once your doing this then start to FPV but this will take some getting used to
 
Yes thank you. I actually removed the cam so I can learn how to fly it. So far I have been pretty UNsuccessful but I'm working on it. I probably should order a couple of crash kis at the rate I'm going.
 
I have found, unfortunately, that the only place around (or close enough to the Earth to reach) is the Moon, if you want someplace that doesn't have some kind of breeze to interfere with the flight direction of your Quad. Of course, since the moon is also airless, your quad isn't going to fly anyways.
 
Rats... that was just where I was headed until you educated me on that. I'll have to work on a plan "B" now!!
 
Yes buy extra props and then buy more extra props! Practice low and slow. Maybe put some cones in your yard. When you feel comfortable enough, rotate the quad and fly back to yourself so that the controls are backwards...... small steps but youll get it. And when you crash eventually, dont get discouraged! Its part of it. Thats how you really learn to work on quads! And most of all... have fun!

Getting old sucks lol. I am 68 and still trying ughh.
One tip I learned, when you are getting ready to bore the earth or prune trees. Try not to panic. Right lol
But release the right stick, let the software get you level.
And, very important, apply left stick throttle. Quickly but as precisely as possible. Getting level and gaining altitude will usually get you out of trouble. Unless you are under a tree or indoors. In which case bend over and kiss your ass goodbye....haha
