Correct. And to be more precise, there was originally DSM2 and now the newer DSMX modulation. DSMX transmitters are back-compatible and will work with DSMS receivers. OrangeRX T-SIX transmitter is DSM2 modulation so it will only work with DSM2 receivers, NOT DSMX. You'll be OK, as the M80 quad you ordered is DSM2 compatible

Everywhere I turned, I saw the Flysky transmitter when I looked for racer quads.
What it does that OrangeRX T-SIX transmitter does not?

Help.
I just received the ORX transmitter from eBay today, July 12th.
It comes with a tiny disk but no manual.
I plugged in the disk to my computer, it was reading the disk but nothing showed up on the computer.
I turned on my Eachine M80 and the transmitter, nothing showed up on the led screen except a flashing " * * * T, HOLD * * * "
What am I to do ????
I tried to google but found no instruction info.

Now is where the learning curve begins as you learn how to set up a hobby grade quadcopter.
The steps are as follows:
1. Bind your reciever to your transmitter. Check youtube for binding spektrum, sorry I'm not familiar with that protocol.
2. Install the betaflight interface on your computer. Make sure your drivers are correct for your quad to connect to betaflight.
3. Connect your quad to betaflight via USB port. On the setup page you'll probably have to tell it which reciever protocol you're using.
4. Set up your auxiliary switches in your t.x. On the modes page in betaflight you'll have to set an "arm" switch, and you'll have to set your "modes" switch, (angle mode, horizon mode, acro mode.)
5. Go to reciever tab in betaflight, make sure your quad is receiving the signals from your t.x. correctly.
That's about it, in a nutshell. As for your orange spectrum t.x. I'm not familiar with that protocol but remember, someone has probably posted a video about it on you tube and the good people of this forum are always happy to help.

OK. Found out why it did not play the disk. The Auto Play was not set correctly.
It is playing the disk now. BUT, I cannot not make head or tail out of it.

What Receiver ? What binding plug? There are no accessories that come with the transmitter except the disk.
Excerpt from the Binding instructions...………..
1.Inset the binding plug in the BATT on the receiver
2.Connect the flight battery to the receiver then the LED flashing quickly
3.Move the throttle sticker to the LOW OFF position Then power on the radio
4.It indicates that binding is success when the LED of receiver turn to light steady
5.Always move off the Binding plug from receiver after bound

Just wanted to throw another option out here too for future people or you guys in the future too, using a Jumper T16 now that comes with a 4 in one module for $150 (hobbywing) it can bind to almost everything (spektrum, frsky, traxxas etc. etc.) . Really happy with it so far, also runs openTX and uses a pair of 18650 cells for power (or small 2S lipo can fit in the back).

Regarding the "bind" plug, usually a bind plug will come with the receiver (it's just a loop between the Signal and Gnd pins, two outside pins out of the three, the middle is 5V). Some spektrum receivers have "auto-bind" where they fall into binding mode if no bound transmitter is found a few seconds after startup (if this is the case you'll see the light on the receiver flashing while it waits for a connection). In any case the point is you need to get your receiver into "binding" mode so it's ready to handshake with a transmitter then you need to get the transmitter into binding mode (usually hold a key on startup but just follow transmitter instructions).

Silly me. It just dawns on me. My quad (M80) is the receiver.
I am having trouble binding.
The instructions said that when the battery was connected to the quad, it would blink quickly.
My is the opposite. It blinks steady but slow for quite awhile. Then it changes to blink quickly.
I turned on the transmitter, but the receiver did not "turn to light steady".
I changed batteries, same result.
But the transmitter led screen has changed to Helicopter Mode...…...MDL1 HELI. It shows Voltage, Time and Heli Flight Mode.
I'll read on and see if it comes to a successful ending.

OK. The manual disk shows me how to access Function List and Set Up List and others.
Fine and dandy.
But what good are those to me ? I still don't know how to set up the M80 quad in order to fly it.
Of course, I must have missed quite a few things, being a newbie and all that.
Bottom line, I still can't fly the quad!

I am a newbie on "hobby quads". It is particularly challenging to a 76 yr old man.
I need instructions specifically for Eachine M80 quad and DRX transmitter. Not some other racing quads and FlySky transmitters.

Yah sorry just don't have these particular components to try out, if the light on the receiver on the quad is flashing then it is in bind mode it will go solid once bound or it finds a transmitter it was previously bound to. Will see if I can figure out where in the manual it explains binding for this transmitter though.
General binding procedure is the same but specific details on activating the binding mode varies from device to device.
