Flying Quad Over The Rose Bowl

I live close to the Rose Bowl and am wondering - could I get in trouble for flying my P4 over the Rose Bowl stadium? Don't panic - I don't mean during the Rose Bowl game. I'm talking about when the stadium is EMPTY. I know there is a "rule" (whatever that means) about not flying over sporting events, but an empty stadium is not a sporting event.

Get approval.......otherwise these are the kinda stunts that will end up screwing us all over...........

Ideally, flying over the stadium while empty shouldn't require any special permissions...unless there is a TFR in place. With the game so close, it's a very real possibility that there is. google "FAA TFR map" and you can find them listed on the FAA's web site. In reality, that's a very visible, high profile location that's hosting an event so security issues will be on everyone's mind. I would think long and hard before flying in that area right now. You are likely to attract a lot of attention.

ETA: I checked TFR's and the TFR for the Rose Bowl doesn't take effect until 6:00 AM on 1/1. I would still think long and hard about this one.

I posted this same question at Phantom Pilots and got essentially the same advice - don't do it. I have to remember that there is a certain level of public relations we must maintain as quad fliers and also that most of the people "out there" are not really sympathetic to drones in general. Thanks for the advice.

A friend once told me that if you have to take more than 10 seconds to make a decision, the answer is probably no.

Glad to see common sense being used. A rare commodity it seems...........ughh.

Would be cool to see a video if you get permission after the big game.

Find out what they are. Before you are read your rights.

There are regulations of such an activity in the FAA Rule Book, against doing it. Go out to the FAA Web Site and look it up.
I found the following on the FAA web site:

Never fly under the influence of alcohol or drugs Never fly over groups of people and stadium events.

That's the official FAA statement.
