Beach Flying

I live in the Daytona Beach FL area, went to the beach yesterday ( 83 degrees, sunny & calm )
checked in with the Beach Safety Office, just an FYI for anyone who may live in Florida, there are currently no restrictions to fly drones on state beach property (nice), plan on doing some videography of the beach line,I was informed that flyer does assume responsibility for any damage or injury resulting from crash or poor judgement.

I've seen a few videos of ocean drone fishing in your area. They're able to take their lines out a few hundred yards to get where the big guys lurk.

Ah, I live in Clinton Township, Michigan. Today is going to be Sunny all day with a high of 16 degrees and wind chills down to -12 degrees. Any beach we have is currently covered in 11 inches of snow and the fish have all migrated to Florida. Flying a drone is possible as long as we're all dressed like Eskimos and the snowmobile can start and take us out to the beach. Of course, keeping the drone's batteries in the pocket helps with the drone's sustainability in the air for about 5 minutes, as long as the motors are still able to turn. Brrr, I'm cold just thinking about that.

Hahaha the fish haven't migrated to Florida, they're just hiding under the ice. But yeah, it's -15 here on the north shore of Lake Erie. I don't care is my quad will fly in this, I just don't want to, even the dog won't go outside. But I just finished ordering a bunch of stuff for a new build while I'm housebound wink wink

I build web sites. I buy already put together drones. The last time I used a soldering iron for anything, I almost set myself on fire. So, I leave the drone building to the drone builders. I just fly them. I should be a durability test pilot, I crash into everything.

Hi if you get public liability insurance your be OK
As long as you have permission to fly the insurance is active

If you are a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) you automatically get that kind of insurance. I know, because I am a member. Many flying clubs require AMA membership to fly with their groups and at their fields. I am a AMA certified member and fly with the Fraser R/C Flying Club in Fraser Michigan. They fly Fixed Wing, Helicopters and Multi rotors like Drones and Quads.

Same here. If you're a member of a flying club, you're covered under their insurance. But only within the limits of their leased land. And only during sanctioned events. Personally, I'm covered by a rider under my homeowners insurance.

Was browsing the DJI Forum, found out State Farm insurance offers Drone insurance starting @ $30.00 a year up to $1000 in coverage, additional fee of $10 p/year for each $100 of extended coverage. Covers mechanical failures, crashes pretty much everything other than liability, lost or stolen drones and it has $0 deductible. Seems much better than what DJI offers.
