You have to have a good sense of humor and look at the bright side, now I get to build another one. Ok, easier said than done. These are my crashes I have caught on video.
Flying isn't the issue. I can fly great. It seems to be the landings that occasionally give me trouble sometimes even the takeoffs. You really need flying lessons!
That crash on my deck remains a mystery. I had flown that quadcopter, my beloved first homemade quadcopter probably 100 times. It was always my go-to. I just got a Tarot T810 that has capacitors, but to tell you the truth, I am a little gun-shy right now. Had so many crashes all within a short time I have lost my nerve. I have enough Parts laying around to make another homemade quad with the exception of the carbon fiber arms. I will be ordering them soon and we'll start another build.I am curious about crash #3 as I had the same experience with two crashes myself - here is the video from one of them:
Both, the modified Elev-8 and Tarot 650 Sport had ESCs mounted under the motors with power/ground leads running through the booms to the pwd harness in the chassis. I learned from another forum that such an arrangement can cause high voltage spikes due to the switching action of the ESCs and to combat them you need to install some capacitors, I think 220 micro farads for every 4" of wire length. Anyway, I've built a new machine, another Tarot 650 Iron Man, and installed the ESCs underneath the chassis.
Lol, I always do my hover tests above a nice soft pepper tree. The one that I crashed into in the video was a nice soft pine tree My deck was not so forgiving. The ultimate Tree Crash. I have a great deal of experience with that having done so each time I take off. My quad should be renamed the Robi Chain Saw.
