    First time Quadcopter, limited resources!

Hmmm, looks like you want Arduino, the ArduCopter (APM 2.5) is an Arduino based controller that comes basically ready to go, and you can program it your self. RTH is Return To Home

    First ever Quadcopter/RC anything

    It seem to make sense?

    First time Quadcopter, limited resources!

You can get a much cheaper one that will do about anything you need. Return to home, and a bunch of other things. An ArduCopter (APM 2.5) or a Naza will do about all this one will do and will be cheaper. The RTH is a must have feature, but do you need mission planning?

Building my own custom multirotor frame

The only thing that can make the frame too big is the weight. If you wanted to make it a little bigger so you can upgrade later it should be fine if the weight is fine.

    Here you are.

    First ever Quadcopter/RC anything

You do get two CW and two CCW, they all lift the quadcopter off the ground, but by spinning different directions they allow the quad to turn left and right by slowing both CW or both CCW. So you have two CCW props and two CW props, the CCW props will spin CCW and the CW props with spin CW.

Pixhawk v2.4.6 Flight controller <-- Really high end, a bit pricy as expected if you want something a little cheaper with GPS functions take a look at this list. As for the transmitter I did not see any that are worth buying, especially if you put the Pixhawk on this quadcopter. Some of...

Twister Quattro X - Mind of its own

Hmm, interesting. Sounds like a GPS problem. Has this happened more than once? Also you should lock the GPS before taking off even if you don' plan to use it. There could have been some sort of interference that blocked the Tx's signal and maybe even the GPS signal at the same time.

As the topic says: What went wrong?

What are your motors pulling also. If they pull near the ESCs you probably have the problem Neil said. The battery could be having too high of current drawn and then a voltage drop, causing a brown out. Usually batteries puff though. Does this happen while your hammering the throttle? By...

Twister Quattro X - Mind of its own

Does it have GPS, if so they can have problems when the GPS does not lock a good signal before take off.

    First ever Quadcopter/RC anything

no, you want all motors lifting, having CW and CCW rotation is needed to allow you to yaw (turn left and right).

Building my own custom multirotor frame

Most people like the X, simply because it feels more natural. It is really just preference, you can change it buy rotating your FC and landing gear. I did a similar frame, that in I used aluminium. It is a bit heavy, but the quad can take off like a rocket. Take a look at this list of...

    My first quad build

Haha, progress. Is it balanced, and did you calibrate your ESCs?

    Bearings, please help a noob!

Around 20 weight, maybe a little thinner if that does not seep in well. Try to use synthetic oils is possible, because your motors are not rusty you should be able to use a 10-20 weight synthetic motor oil.

    Gimbal Feedback Ruining Flight Controllers

That or your having a problem with your ground. Connect the gimbal directly to your receiver and see how it reacts.

If you need to change the direction of any motor simply swap any two wires coming from the motors.

    First ever Quadcopter/RC anything

No, two motors should spin CW, and two CCW. it should be like this : CW____ CCW CCW____ CW

Building my own custom multirotor frame

Are you sure you want plus and not X? You are correct about needing certain motors and ESCs. First you need to know what you wnat to do. Do you want to have a small racer, or have a big camera quad? Once you have that figured out decide about how much lift you will need. You are going...

    First ever Quadcopter/RC anything

Looks like a mutiwii maybe. Most people like to do a tie down test, before trying to get it airborn. Make sure you test in the grass also. Before testing with props on, test that the motors spin up at the same time (NO PROPS). Then check that the motors are spinning the correct direction.

    Small, efficient quad

Haha, most of these with good flight times are a little expensive.
