    First build problems

Yes if a motor smokes it is likely that the insulation was burned off or weakened on the coils and they could short. You should be able to plug them in order from 1 - 5 (5 is optional, 4 needed) Then go into receiver test and check that they are moving the right direction and on the right...

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

How much weight do you think you can stand? You could use the quantum v2 googles (or just the screen), a reliever (either need a 32ch Vtx or to know which band your Vrx is. a 32ch vrx is a lot more than a 32ch vtx)

suitcase deltarotor launches for production and sales.

Depends, if you want to start over and tune it I'd set I gain to 0 and adjust P gain, then work on I gain. if you want to tune the wobble out I'd say it is probably P gain. Turn it off then on, and take off, if you notice thw wobble and it does not change too much over time then it is P...

FAA Interim Final Rule is to be announced this morning

A knowledgeable and trustworthy attorney I have had the pleasure of talking with several times on facebook posted an in depth analysis of the recent rules and regulations. http://jrupprechtlaw.com/myrupprecht-laws-analysis-of-the-faas-published-drone-registration-rule

U.S. Will Require Drones to Be Registered

Well the person refusing to return it is stealing. If you find an item you are only able to keep it after making a reasonable effort to find the owner. If you fail to make that 'reasonable' effort to find the owner, then you have stolen the item. This also applies to a downed multirotor...

    First build

hahaha, I have found that is is much better to make spares all at once rather than after a crash hahaha.

    Lets see your Machines!

They make the arms on the frame easier to break and can make the quad tipsy haha. I had some similar legs.

my first build, i may need help.

"LONG" range to us usually means around 5 miles hahaha, so about how much range do you want and what is your budget? For a mini quad about 2000-3000 feet is usually more than you will need (go on google maps and check out how big an area that is). Motors are good 25a ESC is good, though it...

noob needs help with battery descision

About how much does it weigh? For this size I normally suggest the 3S1P Multistar 10C 5200mAh as it is light and great quality, but you might be better with a smaller battery.

Basic transmitter and receiver on a budget?

The Orange brand one that Neil linked is great for that price range, the build quality is about as good as Spektrum, but it is not as up gradable as the three transmitters I mentioned. Being as you are not using the KK I don't suggest the hobby king tx as it is not as programmable.

Basic transmitter and receiver on a budget?

If you are flying LOS you will loose the thing before you get to 300, if you are flying FPV then the longer the better. If you have a reasonable budget I'd suggest getting a Spectruim DX7, Dx8, or Turnigy 9XrPro. Those are nice radios that retain their value pretty well and will last you as...

Basic transmitter and receiver on a budget?

Are you sure it is 1000m and not 300m (~1000 feet)? Most nice 300$ Futaba or Spektruim radios only get 300m without an upgrade.
