First quad build ... have I specced it right?

At first glance it does seem confusing. When people talk about larger props producing more thrust more efficiently they are usually comparing lower KV motors to higher KV motors using the same size battery. KV= rpm@1 volt. In the chart above you see a little bit of that but with the same KV...

    Talk to me Goose!

Haha! My version of serious is installing Uber on my phone! You are probably right about the CC3d. I went online a year ago before grabbing a KK2 and found the instructions daunting on the CC3d. That's probably just me. I'll take your word on the KK2 being "slicker" adapting to different arm...

Another "can you help me decide" thread

I feel for you. I initially bought a "copy", not a "clone", of a JR radio. It was so cheap I thought I hit the lottery! All it would do is turn on. Not one function worked. The commies I bought it from called me a liar and refused to help. I threw it away and bought a Futaba 10JA. Great radio...

    Talk to me Goose!

The CC3d is a great little controller and is expandable. It is the darling of the racing crowd because of it's quickness and infinite fine tuning capability. It can adapt to non "square" wheelbase designs easily. It is not "basic" at all. Quite sophisticated. The hands down winners for newbie...

    Overlapping Props

It looks and sounds great! On my old Reptile frame(the crashed one), I added another spacer on each side at the center between the front and back arms. For better stability I mounted my battery underneath. I made a battery bracket out of aluminum. That may have added stiffness as well. It's...

Haha! I learned my lesson. It's been a long time since I've made a purchase direct from China.

Transfer battery of my Ipod touch 3rd gen into Quadcopter X5C-1 Is this possible?

Whoa! That's scary..... You should consider flying only in large open spaces until flying becomes second nature. There are some basics we on the forum try to promote. We don't fly over people. We don't fly over other peoples property. We don't infringe on other peoples privacy by videoing them...

    New...to be delivered...or not? Syma X8W

I think I'm going to side with Quadcopter102 on this and retract my previous post. Just not worth the potential problems. Try to get your money back instead or order something equal to the money they owe you and then move on. Too chaotic.

That is totally your call. Honestly, if it's a US stocked item you will probably get it. In the notes area I would insist that they ship only from the US or cancel the order. Use PayPal. I dunno........ The Chinese are scary right now.

Transfer battery of my Ipod touch 3rd gen into Quadcopter X5C-1 Is this possible?

Well. I have not tried it. As a matter of fact I have decided to leave my X5C1 mostly stock. I have bought some 680mah LiPo batteries that fit perfectly without needing mods.I just received a HiTec 1s battery charger so I can better maintain my batteries. Turns out the USB chargers were causing...

suitcase deltarotor launches for production and sales.

Haha! I know you know! I was stating it for DIY Drone particularly regarding the smaller quad.

suitcase deltarotor launches for production and sales.

"Theoretically" that has some merit. However, the lowest kv I've seen for these little motors is 1400kv. Anyway, the additional weight of the more powerful battery will likely cancel out any potential gain at this size.

suitcase deltarotor launches for production and sales.

800kv would be way to low. You usually find that on like a 2216 swinging low pitch 11" or 12" props. Something around 2000Kkv + would be much better. Even the 2210 (kv unknown) seems to large. I would think max would be like a 2306 2050kv or close to that. SunnySky and T-Motor have some great...

First quad build ... have I specced it right?

Here is a possibility for you. You didn't state a budget but this is not in the break the bank territory; http://www.rctigermotor.com/html/2014/Combo_pack_0904/242.html You can find them on line for less. Get the 2300kv. Start with larger props and work your way down to smaller high pitch props...

I am always sorry to hear about Chinese rip-offs. Their economy is in chaos and they need dollars badly. Quadcopter102's experience's should be a warning to everyone. Quality refers to not only the product itself but the vendor as well. Availability and particularly service after the sale are a...

    Talk to me Goose!

Ringalongs choices are good ones. You will be very pleased with the performance and quality and the power system comes as a complete, matched set. You can always add the camera and gimbal later. Another controller to consider( my favorite) is the XAircraft MiniX. Very small and complete with GPS...

First quad build ... have I specced it right?

I agree with ringalong. You're building a very fast quad designed for experienced pilots. Have you considered an inexpensive RTF quad to learn on? You WILL crash in the beginning. A lot! Crashing a $50 to$60 easy and cheap to repair quad is one thing. Crashing the quad you spent hundreds of...
