DJI Phantom Crash (Vortex ring state)

Why of coarse. LOL Do you know not to fly in GPS mode when there is a forecast of any solar storms in your area? That is a good one. You will be flying in GPS mode and suddenly the quad goes off on its own. You can stop the fly away by simply switching to attitude mode or to manual. That is a...

DJI Phantom Crash (Vortex ring state)

I know. I can't belive the amount of new things we have to learn at the cost of a crash. I can't tell you how many times in my past I have said something like, Oh Crap, Oh No, Not My, Clablammo! That stinks I wonder how much that mistake is going to cost.

Owner of Long Range RC has permission to use multi-rotor for police

I am already working on that and it is more than likely going to go. There is also a company in my city that might donate the money to me to get one. Right now I have to use the FLIR we already have. Our department has two but they are for everyone to use so one can't just be assigned to my...

My Hornet Line is almost complete!

I am going through this whole FAA thing so I will be able to hopefully provide people with a good unit they can trust and one that will give them a good mind set that they will have some type of defense if something goes wrong. As of now there are only two small units like mine approved by the...

My Hornet Line is almost complete!

Lets say this. If you are flying any quadcopter in the USA and you are flying it for the Hobby to have fun. What happens when you crash it onto something someone owns like a car or a house and you do some damage. The first thing they do in a law suite is say you were doing something recklessly...

My Hornet Line is almost complete!

When Mine get FAA approved any one I build after it, as long as it is identical it is covered under my approval from the FAA. That would mean anyone who buys one wont have to go through the FAA approval for flight readiness. The other question you ask about my Quads. No, they are not approved...

I would think that shaped wire landing gear would be light , durable, repairable & shock absorbing S

I use these that I made from the the tall crab leg gear. I cut them on a band saw and placed them on my chopper. They spring very well on hard landings.

    Technical difficulties w/ OpenPilot

Hello, From my understanding, all multi rotors work on the plane mode of the transmitter and not the heli mode. I did notice in the video on the page you linked to, the instructor said ailerons. If he said ailerons he must have his controller in the airplane mode. Helicopters do not have ailerons.

    High Pitch Squeal From Motors

Hi Everybody, Jason from LongRangeRC.com here. I have some information to hand out. I have noticed that one of my quads was making a high pitch squealing sound so loud that it was to annoying to fly plus I thought my motors might be bad. The motors were 570 KV and new so I didn't want to trash...

High pitch squeal from motors... FIX.

Hello Guys, If you remember how I told you in an earlier post that the one Hornet I had the Tarot 2 gimbal on kept having a high pitch squeal followed by a uncontrollable turn? I think I figured it out. I noticed that the speed controllers I have had a setting for the timing of the motors. If...

    Quad Crashing Issues

Ok, I have an answer. I had this problem with one of my raptor 50 helicopters. Some receivers go into a failsafe when a voltage drops to a certain level. If it goes into a failsafe and you don't have your failsafe idle set to a good hoover speed it could drop. That is one explanation. The other...
