Hi Everybody, Jason from LongRangeRC.com here. I have some information to hand out. I have noticed that one of my quads was making a high pitch squealing sound so loud that it was to annoying to fly plus I thought my motors might be bad. The motors were 570 KV and new so I didn't want to trash them. I could find no help on line so I decided to try and figure it out on my own.
Here is the fix for the high squealing sound or at least it is an option to try. Most speed controllers come with a default setting for timing, auto brake, frequency, and so on. My motors have 27 poles inside and therefore required to be timed at 22 degrees to 30 degrees and the Frequency needed to be 16kH and not the default 8kH.
It took me forever to figure this out but as soon as I re-tuned all my speed controllers to those settings the squeal stopped and I was able to set my gains down from 175 to 100. So a lesson to learn is if you have a high pitch squeal or if your gains seem to be set higher than normal for your control board try setting your speed controllers and don't assume they are correct from the factory.
I hope this helps a few of you,
