    Thumbs, Pinch, or Hybrid?

 ... Same here, copters are far less forgiving than quads . Actually got good enough to fly them without gyros too ! Never got to the point of sustained inverted flight then landing rotor down on nail heads and such ... lol ... but could definitely hold my own. :D

Need help on building a quad

Bruce on "RC Model Reviews" channel for YouTube is a wealth of information and has several videos about antennas. There's also "Mr. Steel" videos (but those are mostly quad builds) as well as any of Joshua Bardwell's videos (he gets more technical than most others) that I enjoy. Oscar Liang is...

Need help on building a quad

 ... Every heli I've ever seen kept the last quarter turn at least 2mm off the ground plane, this makes for what amounts to an air core capacitor for tuning. Tape acts differently than air (it's called the dielectric property) so the spacing to achieve the same value changes when you...

Need help on building a quad

Moz, you should raise that bottom coil a couple of millimeters higher up off the reflector. About the last 1/4 turn or so of it is elevated. You shouldn't need any tape to keep the end of it from touching because, as it is, what you've done there is you've basically made a capacitor. Try that...

Need help on building a quad

 ... Even further yet thoughts on antenna making: Now that I've touched upon the PHYSICAL and ELECTRICAL aspects of constructing antennas it occurs to me there's been no mention of tuning, aside from my brief comment earlier advising the need to do so. There's two important aspects...

Need help on building a quad

:) ... Further thoughts on the antenna making process: Precision is key, just a few millimeters makes a BIG difference (even more so on 5.8 than 2.4). ALSO there is another important thing to keep in mind: There are the physical measurements AND THEN there are electrical measurements...

    Help please. Wifi reciever

Perhaps if you were more concise in your terminology and the specifics of your problem we could all understand you better. I submit as evidence: Hi. I dont understand. Waht you mean not armed .... Did you even watch that video ? It's all explained there. He even shows you what to do and...

Need help on building a quad

 ... I've found that it's not enough to just make 'em you hafta tune 'em too ! The easiest way to do that (unless you've got a few thousand to invest in test gear) is by using RSSI. Remember any RX ant can be used as TX for tuning porpoises .. nyuck nyuck ... if it transmits better...

Need help on building a quad

 ... FLUX IS YOUR FRIEND ... Just because you're using rosin core solder doesn't mean you don't want to use flux too. (NASA certified solderer) For a "first build" you're not only making it harder on yourself by going this small but you'll also likely want something with more power and...

Narrowed it Down to Two-and-a-Half Drones

o_O ... The AVI format runs with less compression, hence the requirement for higher bit rates and being a card hog. The MP4 format has higher compression AND a superior Codec. Think of AVI and MP4 formats as the "containers" that "hold" the data blocks. The codec is what compresses and...

Need VR Goggles for glass wearers

 ... Lemme know what you think of those stubbies Moz ... Been thinking about grabbing some myself too, but haven't looked into them enough yet to pull the trigger

    Help please. Wifi reciever

"Armed" and "Connected" are two different things. Connected just means that the quad and radio are ready and capable of communicating. Armed means you want to activate the motors to begin flying. You can't get "armed" without first getting "connected". And just because you're connected, doesn't...

    Help please. Wifi reciever

If it "connects" but doesn't "respond" it may not be armed. This video may be of help:

    Mini Quad Lifting Capability

Anything you can buy that's that small will not have any substantial lifting capabilities at all. You CAN build one though, but there isn't anything RTF that's going to be that small and still lift two or more ounces that I can think of.

    Thumbs, Pinch, or Hybrid?

I'm almost always just holding my radios in my hands, so it feels better to me with shorter sticks because that way it's easier to have more grip on the radio. :)

    Help please. Wifi reciever

o_O ... There is no wifi receiver in the drone ! That is a wifi video TRANSMITTER. Repeating myself for clarity: The radio transmitter (held in your hands) is 2.4 GHz (not wifi) and has sticks on it. The radio receiver is inside the quad (also not wifi) and receives your control commands. The...

    Mini Quad Lifting Capability

With that small of a form factor (since you can't use more efficient larger props) you're going to be looking for aggressively pitched smaller props turning at high speeds driven by powerful motors to obtain any substantial payload lifting capabilities. That means you're looking more to a...

The Case for the H501s- Flying w/o Propeller Guards

 ... I've tried friend's cam platforms before, but honestly got a bit bored flying high and slow just looking around ... lol ... I'm more into "tree bashing" myself. :p
  19. Gyro Doctor

    Help please. Wifi reciever

o_O ... The wifi receiver IS YOUR PHONE. o_O ... The transmitter is what controls the quad (has the two sticks on it) and is not connected via wifi, it's regular 2.4 GHz and only the VIDEO is wifi.

 ... I was going to suggest the TBS power cubes, but that stack you've found would be my choice also ! :)
