The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

I wonder if you and Gyro Doc have ever read "One Second After" by William R. Forstchen. It is a book about what happens when an EMP is exploded over the entire, East Coast of America, and it's a real ripper. You can get it through iBooks or probably any other book download source.

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

    1. Not really. If you start your flight with the camera pointed straight ahead and slightly down, it will stay that way while you are positioning it over the POI (Point of Interest - in this case, the top of City Hall). Once you hit POI when the quad is centered over City Hall, you can then...

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

Thanks, boys. As I said, I am going back to do better. I also need to hone my editing skills a whole bunch.

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

But enough of this dash cam trivia - here it is boys! Apologies for the jerking around a bit. That was my clumsy attempt at editing. The unedited video was smooth as glass, but 14 minutes long, so I tried to crop it. Needless to say, I'm going back as soon as I can to do a better job.

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

Relax, boys. Tomorrow, I'm getting yet another toy installed - a dash cam. I am easily distracted by shiny objects, as you can probably tell.

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

OK, OK .... I have to edit it first, and I am just learning how to edit videos. But I want to post it as well. Give me a bit.

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

Let's take another look at this. I will assume you are correct that FAA rules prohibit a manned aircraft from flying lower than 500 feet above a building. The video I posted says that FAA rules will allow an unmanned aircraft (a drone) to fly as high as 400 feet above a building, regardless of...

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

The cops have no jurisdiction over airspace in the state of California. None. FAA has jurisdiction, but not the local police. Now, having said that, I realize that if some officious cop thinks he has jurisdiction over someone flying a drone around City Hall, and he tells me to bring it down...

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

I think most of us register with the FAA. It doesn't cost much - I think it's only five bucks. Not sure why we do it or what happens if we don't, but I did it. I, of course, paid $29.00 to get it done because I fell for some scam Internet outfit that conned me into thinking they were doing...

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

I'll take a shot at, not contradicting, but questioning, what you say here. According to Ken Heron on this YouTube video: , FAA regulations provide that the altitude of a quad cannot be more than 400 feet AGL EXCEPT when the quad is being flown within a 400-foot radius of a structure and does...

The Pasadena City Hall - Check!

Well, I did it. Yesterday, I decided to go up to the Rose Bowl for the first time to do a little flying up there. There is a large, grassy area just to the east of the Rose Bowl where people often fly quads and other RC aircraft. I drove by, but didn't like it, so I kept moving. Where to go...

    Little Quad Lost

The owner won't let him go up and get it? Why not?

So Where the Heck Am I?

So what I am hearing here is: (1) Don't fly the quad out of sight in the first place and (2) if you do, and you get disoriented, just use RTH rather than trying to bring it back manually. Works for me. BTW, I knew it was illegal to fly it out of sight but ...... well, you know.

Can't you also watch the distance indicator to see if it is increasing or decreasing?

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

Sorry for introducing politics into this. Belay that nonsense, quad jockies! This is a quad forum, not a political message board. :)

So Where the Heck Am I?

Wow - GREAT advice from all youse guys. Thanks a lot. I'm hearing that flying out of sight may not be the best thing to do and that RTH isn't for sissies at all. I feel so much better.

So Where the Heck Am I?

We ventured a little farther afield today, i.e., I lost sight of the sucker. (Shhhhhh ...) I knew I was going to - that was the idea. I figured when I wanted to bring her home, all I would have to do would be to execute a 180, using the camera and known landmarks, and move out on a straight...

I thought Canada was a liberal bastion of freedom. Doesn't sound at all like it here.

IOS Update - Will It Mess Up My DJI Go App?

I Googled the issue. The DJI Forum has up to date information on all of this. It turns out I am running the most current IOS (11.2.6) - I was mistaken that Apple wanted an update. What it was doing was telling me to backup the iPad, not install a new IOS. Nonetheless, I learned a lot about...
