Yet another newbie I'm afraid

Many apologies to you long suffering Guys, and especially if I'm flogging the same old horse.

Briefly(cough):
Always loved flying, and gained Glider Pilots License (3 solos) nearly 50yrs ago! with the Air Training Corps. Unfortunately never had the funds to pursue it further, by joining a Club.

My downfall started only as recently as this Christmas, when I was bought a Hubsan Q4. :D

Having ( barely), managed to achieve a very skittish, and sometimes sight-endangering indoor hover, terrifying both the dog and visitors alike, I have been virtually incommunicado, frantically trawling (during recharge times) the most fantastic Youtube footage of FPV, and the construction of one.
(Don't really fancy the upfront expense :( of an RTF or it's lack of component choice).

I've done a fair bit of (chisel tip) soldering, during my career in telecomms, (enough to avoid a dry joint), but nothing as fine as the motor wire I needed on the Q4.

Initially I thought of building an indestructible FPV250, (eg. Bruce Simpson - ' Blackout ') cos it's initially going underground more than Alice in Wonderland !

However, the absolutely gorgeous clarity, depth of field and colour, seen particularly in the French castle section of R.G. Jameson's: France 2014 video on an iLook+ camera (Gotta get one !) and the sheer gob-smacking altitude in Flohio's: Cows to Clouds video absolutely blew me away!
So FPV 'Stooging round the Sky' is definitely for me, leaving 'Teara**ing round Trees'
(Sorry Racers ;)) for another build maybe.

Is there any cure Doctors, other than a complete lobotomy ?
250 0r 45o to be taken how many times a day ????

I had thoughts of trying to more or less replicate Flohios HT Flip build, or an Alien Reptile 450,
or do you Guys think I am running before I can even walk, and should maybe get some experience cartwheeling a few cheap Chinese ZMR250's across the grass first ? :p

Initial thoughts (in order) for a build were:

1) Stable Hover, preferably hands-off default, (in case I go into ' Blue Funk Mode' !)
2) Largish Props, for quieter, slower rotating and less attracting the wrong kind of attention.
3) Good endurance
4) Repairable........definitely Repairable !

Any
suggestions for frames, motors, cameras etc. as an alternative, without breaking the Bank, warmly welcome.

Cheers Guys

There is a lot more to building a quadcopter than soldering, it can be a maddening and frustrating experience. Choosing all the components, proper hook up and programming your flight controller can be quite confusing as evidenced by all the need help posts.

It seems you are looking for some decent aerial photography. Take a peek at this.

Rather nice I'd say. Total package ~$380 and the CX 20 has GPS and a compass.

Many thanks for the advice, but also the inspiration. (see.: It's all your fault ! :D)
The reason I joined the Forum was specifically for help with component compatibility, and dialing everything in, when the time came.
Hopefully previous practical (work) experience, ( plus a lot of care ) will help with assembly ? I somehow need the satisfaction of knowing I built it from scratch.
I appreciate the wisdom in buying the £200 CX20 to cut my teeth on, certainly has all the flight features a dork like me needs, to fly and loiter, but seems a little fragile.
Anyone know if I could be successful in buying the flight controller and characteristics alone, and transferring them to something a bit more durable (and repairable), like a Turnigy Talon frame, or Alien Reptile for instance ?
Have certainly some scenery here as well in N. Wales to practice on.
Another great video. Many thanks
Very surprised you managed to get such picture quality from the Xiaomi Yi, although very impressed by your iLook+ footage.
Is the latency good enough on it to use as an FPVCam as well as your HD Action Camera ?
(Sorry if it's a daft question, asking if it can do two jobs at once, as I'm new to lots of the equipment on the market nowadays)

Cheers again for the videos :)
Keep 'em coming

Update: Just found some Youtube footage of a few guys who replaced their CX20 frames.
