hey guys,

I was wondering how to make the range on my syma x8c farther than 100 meters. I want to go really high and take some video but I don't want it to go out of range and fly away.

thanks for any help:)

I hope I posted this in the right place.

If you do a YouTube search for "Syma range mod" you will find a number of videos demonstrating adding an external 2.4 Ghz antenna. It's pretty simple.

Depending on where you look, the advertised range of the X8C Transmitter is 250m. Some sources list it as only 100m which is wrong. People buy the X8C transmitter, even just to fly their X5C-1, specifically for its range. There are many Youtube videos - search the words "X8C range test" - and you'll find 250-300m (or farther) is pretty standard, without any mods at all. At that point you can't see it very well anyway, at least not the orientation. I don't see the X8C transmitter as being a good candidate for a range mod since it's so good already and that's the reason people buy it. Remember you're flying LOS so you can't get it very far away from you anyway.

That's exactly what I do. I use an X8 controller to fly my X5's. I picked it up on Ebay, if I remember correctly. It has more range than my eyes do!

Most antenna in them toys are just stuffed in. I find if you heat the end of a screwdriver and melt a hole in the top of the body & stand the antenna up through the top should get you better range. Believe me. Modded a few like this for friends got em a bit more range not loads though.

I agree many toy quads could benefit from some range-improving mods, but again the X8C transmitter specifically is known to have great range already. Why hack up (melt holes in) a perfectly nice transmitter, when you already get 250-300m range?

Some ppl always want more. I only meant a hole in the body to stand the antenna up. Hell you could replace very easy for a better one. Where would we be without mods.

Go to youtube ; (Syma x8 x5 transmitter range setting)
Go to this YouTube video and it will tell you how to get the maximum distance out of your transmitter .
