WTB Soldering service

I have a Armatan Tadpole with 1204 motors which need to be replaced.

I have bought 4 new Arthur motors and tried to solder the 1st replacement motor to the board and failed to get a clean solder to those small pads.

I am willing to pay someone to do this work for me. i am looking for local contacts as I would really like to see this done this weekend.

I can pay cash or thru paypal.

Thanks,
John

I own a Weller WE1010NA which is a pretty nice soldering station with temp regulation and a high temp of 850 degrees F. including I have really small flux core lead free solder and tip clean as well as a fine tip cone soldering tip. I am about as prepared as I can be. I have everything but experience. And that I am not willing to risk on my quadcopter.

I ended up finding a local service who did the work same day for $100. A fair price for a good job that I am not willing to risk doing.

Moderators, please feel free to close and remove this thread as it is no longer needed.

Hi John I don't like to close threads as it helps others with the same problems , you need to get practice in so you can solder any thing and save money, I don't normally use solder with flux in it a use a stand alone Flux , the important thing is to tin the wire and pads then solder them together
Keep us posted on how you get on with the build

I bought this model pre built as I have medical issue which hinders my ability to perform such small soldering. That said, I have the tadpole back together as I puchased it and I am fighting my controller and reciever.

I need to start a thread to ask for a default config for a Taranis Q X7 Access Tx. Mine is so screwed up, and there is no factory reset method. And it appears settings remain post firmware update even when going from the FrSky firmware to the OpenTX firmware.

Somebody needs to get a factory reset option which base lines the settings on the current firmware back to Out of the Box values.

The only way to get back to the original firmware is to re-flash to the original, factory reset will not change firmware.

DugDog,
This is not about getting back to when I bought it as that would not be smart unless it was believe that a string of firmware updates corrupted the current flash (Assuming that was possible, which we know isnt). We also know that assuming a successful flash of current software will wipe out the existing which is why its not possible for the most part.

This is about the settings which DONT change due to firmware flash. And reverting them to the defaults as it would have been purchased. And I did not purchase with models added already.

This is a hobby of customization. And sometimes you do so much, such as when learning, that you need to reset all values to default.

That is what I wish the Firmware flashing had a option to do. Write the new firmware and reset the radio to default values including wiping all models out. AKA Out of the Box (with current firmware) as if it was to be sold now and not 3 yrs ago (safe to assume the radio sold now have a newer firmware than the same radio 3 yrs ago).

Hey bro I've been there I'm sure there is a simple fix for your problem, I've never had the taranis but I've used the radiomasters which were modeled off the taranis. What exactly is the problem?

Simply put, I want it reset to Out of Box default where it has NO models and is going thru the Inital Setup and first model registration. I have made a lot of changes to settings such as the channel order for example. And I am too new to know what default settings are, and of course I did not note my changes as I expected a Factory Reset feature to recover from. I need to sell this radio and buy a NEW radio or reset this one. Please understand, I am not talking about reloading the firmware to that which it shipped with. I am talking about resetting all the changes I made and wiping the model registration to Out of Box.

I am very surprised that the feature in the QX7S Accss version which would reset the radio to the First initial Setup stage (What I would call the "Out of Box" state on a Windows Server) was removed in the Access version.

I have to believe the Development team has some way to factory reset these after purposely messing them up. Even if done via computer over the USB port with a CLI (Command Line Interface with CMD, Powershell, or other scripting language)

Follow up: The current (I am guessing) QX7S is $220. I wonder if I purchase it and create a backup of the Default setup (with 1 dummy model ~ pre bind), could that be restored to my QX7 I have. Assuming both had the same firmware and OpenTX version.

OMG OMG OMG......

Please keep in mind, we are talking about Factory Reset. Per the demo in this video for the QX7S
How to Reset Taranis Q X7S radio to Factory Default Settings

You goto the 5th page which is titled "Version", displayed very clearly is "[Menu Long] Factory Rest" (no scrolling). Ok now if you think about this, this makes total sense.

In a last act of despiration, I called FrSky America in CA. just now. I was just told that on Page 6 "Hardware" where stick calibration and switch & pot information is located as well as stuff like Bluetooth and other communication information is found, SCROLL to the very BOTTOM (aka not in the view of the user at the very top) is the [Factory Reset] option where this radio is set to Out of Box.

Ok, the location of this makes NO sense. I was laughing as the person was telling me this as I was walking thru it as he was telling me this. I provided feedback that the location of the QX7S makes sense and would be my Feature Add request that this be located to match the QX7S. I also suggested that during firmware flashing, there be a option to select for Factory Reset. I was very happy and said thank you to him for his assistance.

Hopefully this thread will be searchable via web search engines and the next person will find this helpful. Someone who has a youtube channel should create a short video on this. Maybe even compare it to the QX7S.

Thanks
John
