Where do i start...?:s

Ok well firstly i would like to say i am a newbie when it comes to the quad scene, but have owned numerous helis before and would say i am a quick learner. Quite recently i have been looking at quads such as the LaTrax Alias and Dromida Omnius... i know they are what they are "toys". So instead would like to invest in a potential build it myself Quad.

I dont want to over do it since i could just get myself an Inspire pro (if only i could afford such a thing), and i'm not too keen on the FPV side of things but what i do like is to be able to take videos and photos. so basically is it possible to build a quad with a camera and could take a beating ?

Apologies if i went on one.... i just have no idea where to start.:confused:

I did the same exact thing, I bought a 250 blackout clone from Value Hobby, $15.00. went with the g force motors and 12a simonk esc. then bought a PDB from Banggood. Naze32 from MultiRC. A x4r Sbus receiver from Hobbies Aloft. I have spent about $140 in with no FPV gear yet. I have been taking my time, screwed up a motor, Esc, and broke the first Naze32 plugging in the mini usb. But I am getting there. lots of help from youTube, and recently strarted posting here.

haha , yeah ive had that trend with previous helis, break, repair , buy....
but finally i want something that will last. a strong foundation i can build on.

Well I'm a firm proponent of getting something really inexpensive to get started <$30. Learning for me involved many, many crashes, the cheaper lighter quads can definitely take a beating. Took me a while to get the basic muscle memory down. Plus things like spare props and batteries can be had for peanuts.

same goes for me , except i'd rather have the basics built for now on a more compelx quad and then eventually upgrade parts etc.
basic quads are great to start but if i were to go basic first i'd want to buy something thats still good quality (get my moneys worth) but id rather that go to a decent build...

+1 To what Jackson says. Buy a cheap and make the foolish mistakes on that rather than something you have put money into.
