Recently crashed my Cheerson CX-20 and want to use the old one for spare parts. When looking to replace it with a new one I see different versions. What is the OPEN SOURCE Version and should I prefer it or stay away from it?

Yes, that would be the one to get. That said your crashed one may not have the open source Flight Controller. I believe there were 3 versions at one time.
