What did you get in the mail today?

Hahaha, HAL stands for Heavy Aerial Lift, and what type of flight time are you expecting?
LOL I thought you were referring to the Heuristically Programmed Algorithmic Computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Quite honestly, I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm not going to be lifting a lot, just a camera and gimbal. But ecalc showed that with 700 kv motors, 4S 5000 mah Lipo and 10" props I might get 20 minutes, which I would be more than happy with. But I've already got it built with 580 kv motors and 12" props. Been busy so I've just done a little every night but the very last thing I have to do is calibrate the ESCs. Then I'll find out what I get with this setup as I have no idea what to expect.

Im going to give this a try on my 230 xframe : http://www.amazon.com/Usmile®-Version-Lighting-Control-Tracker/dp/B01B2C98N4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

SP F3 FCB this will be my third one. My first deluxe version with some more bells and whistles I get to experiment with. I'm kinda liking Cleanflight: http://www.amazon.com/ARRIS®-Racing-Flight-Controller-Multicopter/dp/B01CHFQG30?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

These cameras have been pretty good too me and they don't break the bank when I smash one. http://www.amazon.com/Crazepony®FPV-Camera-700TVL-3-6mm-Security/dp/B013BAYED4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

This tx has been okay and again don't break the bank when I snap off the rpsma connecter. http://www.amazon.com/Usmile®-Wireless-Transmitter-180-350-quadcopter/dp/B018W6RCWW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

I'm kinda setting up this quad up thinking it may eventually carry some EMAX red bottoms if the eachine salvage motors don't do the job.

man i really wish i could have flown drones when i was in the air force, but i was never offered that as an option....i got a good score on my asvab, is that an officer only job? I woulder if they would let me strap a runcam on a predator rq-1 so i could make youtube videos on the side xD I guess they kinda guessed that I would try to put a runcam on my drone, so maybe thats why they didn't offer me that job :(

but i guess it would suck to kill innocent people, but maybe i could be like a scout drone and if i saw another drone attacking innocents i could shoot it down and be like "sorry, my clover antenna was messed up"

Who's says our Air Force drones are out attacking innocent people? You must be watching too much MSNBC. :)

Usually innocent deaths are attributed to misinformation, wrong place just the right time, being used as a meat shield by someone who is being targeted, or the most, likely a combination of the three. Not to get politics involved too much, but the people who are being targeted are the same people who put WMDs that can kill several hundred people, inside a school. Also to be fair this is nothing compared to the carpet bombings in WWII. While it is avoided at all cost, there are many cases that it saves more lives than it cost, or it is unavoidable.

yeah unfortunately causalities are a cost of war... And it's not a USA vs muslim thing, what lot of people don't realize is that the number 1 victims of terrorists are actually other muslims. Before 9/11 got everyone riled up, schools in pakistan and india were being bombed on a regular basis, but nobody ever talked about it.

NICE! i was looking at those ev800s. let us know how u like them, have u tried the quanum v2s yet? how u think they compare against the quanums? i think the ev800 is nice cus its got better resolution than the 007s, and although i love my quanums, the fit just isn't quite there for me so i'd like to get a set of goggles that are non DIY.

and yeah i'm back in this hobby....every night since i quit i dreamt about flying....im a pilot at heart!!! though it will rain everyday this week, giving me time to make some tweaks to my setup, and im ready to tear it up when the rain stops!!

They seem to fit quite nice and they're nice and light. They seem to be good quality for the price and built in battery and receiver is why decided on them. Don't know about the picture quality yet because, well, I'm a dumbass. I posted a thread a while ago that my Aomway monitor wouldn't connect to my VTX. Got a couple different VTXs and still couldn't get a picture and it's been sitting ever since. So when I got the goggles yesterday and they wouldn't connect either! That's when it dawned on me that when I got the monitor, I was bench testing it with camera and VTX wired up and just powered up with a 3S battery. So I probably just fried the camera. 99 % sure that's the problem because I get a nice clear screen and OSC with the goggles, just no image.

Yay! Finally got my new Syma X5HC quad w/altitude hold feature. A small glitch as I got an email after it had supposedly shipped saying there was an issue with “security” in China.

Anyway, it’s here and did a quick flight yesterday before dark. The good news is the altitude hold works very well and seems like a cool feature. With no wind I could virtually drop the Tx and just let it hang there. Will be a nice stable platform for video.

Will try and put up a full review later after some more flights.

today i got some thread lock and a new battery (apparently my old one died because i was flying it overdischarged too much and the last time i waited til the next day to recharge it which caused a cell to fail and the smart charger no longer recognizes it as a 3s battery, so lesson learened.

i had it set to 3.4 instead of 3.5 cus before 3.5 was causing my alarm to go off early - but then i learned something: bad props can cause more voltage draw which can cause voltage alarm to go off early, and having good props can also improve flight time! and the props that came with my falcon were pretty crappy i definitely noticed a huge difference in flight time and flight stability with the DAL 5045s, pro tip: make sure u have good props and they are in good condition!! VERY IMPORTANT!! and make sure your battery is strapped in good! those initial crashes pretty much caused me problems that i am still dealing with today lol

just finished threadlocking my bolts - a few of the screws were dinged up from crashing and i couldn't unscrew them, but whatever if they are to unscrew again i will just put in new bolts with thread lock :)

thanks again jackson for this gel recommendation - im very messy with glue stuff and this is perfect for me, it is awesome!!

gonna let this dry over night, own the skies tomorrow morning!!

Foxeer FPV camera and replacement GPS puck for my ZYX-M FC. Ordered from Arrihobby and very impressed. Excellent CS and fast delivery.

Didn't think too much of the U580 (too flimsy, landing gear was Mickey Mouse) so I went with the Tarot 650 Sport
