Used quad prices?

Generally speaking, what percentage depreciation do you usually apply to a quad once it becomes used? I know somebody is going to say something is worth what somebody will pay for it, but be real. I don't care how new, or hardly used something is...used is used and possibly abused.

Sorry to say but there is no real metric. Camera wuadcopters tend to retain value better simply because they go through lighter usage. Batteries loose value fast because you are ALWAYS taking a risk on them, racers more so than camera platforms again.

Depends on how used, how bad the buyer needs it, and how fast the seller wants to get rid of it for. A lot of variables come into play to produce the final result of it is only worth selling for the price you either stand to make money, or stand to loose an amount you are conformable with. For the buyer a lot more factors come into play, including how bad they need it, how available the same thing is new or used, and even their impulse buys.

Wish I could give a more reproducible metric, perhaps people who do a lot of sells could provide you with one, but I'm unable without a case by case basis.

 ... Agreed, there's no accurate way to gauge something like a "depreciation rate" when it comes to this hobby.
I've seen "used stuff" going for "new stuff" prices simply because the demand exceeded the supply (Taranis radios being a good case in point).
There are simply too many variables involved. ;)

There are too many variables as stated above. We could help you price items, or let you know if what you are looking at getting is worth the price.

I'm looking at camera drones, specifically something by dji or yuneec. I know for a fact I can walk in the store right now and buy a brand new yuneec q500 4k for $800+tax. I've seen a bunch of phantom3's in a similar price range. Locally people are posting them used for $700 and up claiming practically new, and never used. If I'm not walking out of a retail store with it in my hand I don't care how "hardly used" it is....used is used. In my opinion used electronics that are readily available should take about a 50% price drop once they go from new to used. I haven't even thought about talking to somebody until they ask $500. No matter how hardly used it is I've seen many a people slam these things into surroundings or even the ground then put them up for sale. Im not prepared to take that risk. Is anybody else buying used drones? What kind of risks do you usually take?

-on a side note I saw a used phantom 2 for sale today asking $700. Crazy, right?

You can buy a refurbished Phantom 4 (standard) on Amazon from the DJI store for $799. They briefly had them for $729, and I picked mine up for that price.

I know a guy that got a brand new phantom3 professional a few months ago for $600.

But exactly my point. If we can get new for this...how can used justify new prices?

Usually you ca't but don't forget to include a warranty you get with new and a that used ones often can come with a LOT of accessories that would cost a pretty penny new. Especially if the quad is in like new condition so that the batteries are your only real concern.

A lot of variables can affect this, and it is not uncommon for something to be overpriced.
