'Un-fisheyeing' a video - is this feasible?

This is my first post on this forum. I've been looking at a quad for aerial video and stills photography, and I really like the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus, the DJI Inspire and the Yuneec q500.

I especially like the Yuneec's 'follow me' function.

The thing is, all but the Inspire have cameras that give a fisheye view. The Inspire doesn't, but it costs way more than the others.

So my question is, can you convert fisheye to rectilinear with post-production software and get good results? Thanks.

Yes it is possible, even some of the cheaper apps can do it. Even the free VLC can handle it.

That said you will have to do some major cropping which basically will zoom in your vid leading to a loss of detail/quality.

It is , but is defeats the purpose of a fish eye, and it will not end up perfectly. look into Cinerella video editor. It is open-source, cross platform, and free, it is production grade, so it may have a steep learning curve. If this is all you want to do with it then look for a video on it, it may not be too hard.

look up Prodrenalin by prodad. It's in Germany. I am in Southern California. Prodad has an English version.
It's on sale right now for 40 bucks.
Prodad also has a program called de-fisher. I think this does the same thing but I think Prodrenalin does more and costs less. It also has a stabilizer and something else too.
It has a preset for DJI P2V+ fisheye lens. That's what I have. There are a lot of presets in there.
You can download a trial version and it will put out a 1 minute video, or something like that, so you can see if it works for you.
Its great. Its fast. It's very easy. The only down side I have noticed is the size of the file doubles.
Other than that it is a joy to see straight lines in my videos again. It gave me a whole new enthusiasm for my quad videos again.
