Transmitter issue, ppm ibus sbus?

So I'm really starting to get into drones and I own 3 now but one tranmitter. Flysky i6
I just bought the tyro99 and after finishing the build I can't get the controller to show any pid's in betaflight after I bind it.

Has anyone had success binding up a FlySky through PPM to the tyro99 ?

I'm in need of someone to explain how and why I would use one of the ibus sbus PPM over and the other and whether or not my controller can do it.
Also which transmitters can you plug a crossfire micro into?

I'm familiar with how to set it up and betaflight selecting the configure tabs but it's still has not worked for me.

I just want to fly somebody help!!!

Did you take the 10 channels firmware update for the i6.
Ppm is in settings. Just on/off. Ia6 is pwm rx. Ia6b is pwm, ppm & ibus.
Setting need changing in both tx & FC to use ibus.

You haven't told us what model receiver you are using.

Can you even do that without changing the settings each time for each quad? If so, then you could be spending more time changing out the settings for each than flying them.

Tx is flysky fs-i6 with no 10 channel update.
Rx is the flyksy fs-IA6B
The PPM output is on on my tx menu.
I have the fc plugged into my RX
Through the ppm/ch1 slot.
Binding the Rx and Tx is successful and I can see the Rx with the battery life on the display.
Now for betaflight.
On the ports tab my UART 2 is set to serial Rx on.
On the configure tab my reciver is set to ppm Rx input.

I will try to do the update to my tx right now.
Thanks guys, I've only flown 4 packs in a 5"

Can you even do that without changing the settings each time for each quad? If so, then you could be spending more time changing out the settings for each than flying them.

The settings will save for each different model even on my cheapo flysky clone eachine i6.

I've been doing a build with a different flight control board and I've noticed different versions of betaflight configuratior do different things especially in regards to the rx.

Using bf 10.2 will work sometimes, 10.4 will work sometimes, and 10.4.1 will work sometimes. I also had to download some zadig drivers to update the fcb to bf 3.5. It's been a day of learning for me, good luck!

You should be using iBus instead of PPM. iBus is a much faster digital signal with lower latency than the old PPM analogue signal.

In the ports tab, enable the correct UART under Serial rx. In configuration tab, set rx mode to serial rx & provider to iBus.

Good sounds familiar ive tried with those steps in the past but I'll try again.
The hard part is understanding which UART to turn the serial Rx on.
Do I need to plug the Rx fc cable into another slot on my RX or is channel 1/ppm still ok? There is are only two ibus
Slots at the top labelled. "Sens" and "servo" would I use those instead of ch1/ppm?

I found that right after my last post.
I followed the steps and still no PIDs on the recivet tab. I'm on bf and can follow along untill he gets output on the sticks.
My friend let me borrow his tx same version as mine and it does the same thing so I'm guessing it's not a broken tx.
Here are my steps.
TYRO99
1.connect to betaflight
2. select serial rx on uart that corresponds to where you pluged in the rx to the fc (mine is set to UART 2)
3.configuration tab set both tabs to match ibus settings save reboot. Tabs read "Serial based reciver" and "IBUS"
4.bind Rx to TX

Am I missing anything?
Any weird disarming setting.


I'm supper close to buying a better Rx TX something that can house a crossfire micro or some long-range set up.

Waiting on banggood to send me my snapper 7 AIO is the worst. I've been the adult version of GROUNDED till it is delivered..

I'll try to explain the most likely problem. FRSky uses an inverted sBus signal, whereas Flysky iBus is uninverted. If you have the signal wire of your receiver connected to sBus pad on your flight controller, it won't work. Try moving it to a different UART

Ok so I think I am getting somewhere. The wires connecting fc to rx areaattached with a plastic clip on the fc side. Next to the clip housing on the fc there are 3 small copper pads in a row and labelled beside is:
Ppm
DSM
[OOO] IBUS
(^Pads)

On the fc right next to the plastic clip housing is a label sbus!!!

I feel like this is where I have it wrong.
Did the clip the fc come with only have the ability to use sbus? And if you wanted any of those others you'd have to tin the wires and solder the Rx wires to the board. If so which wires where?

From your receiver. the signal wire will get soldered to the ibus pad, the other 2 wires are your power and ground. You can use any ground on your flight controller, but the power must be 5 volts. It should be clearly marked 5V on the board

Well then I would say that's the problemo!!!
Let me give it a try and see if it connects. Might be a few days because I'm not around any solder gear.
