Transmitter and Receiver not binding

Hi Guys

I have bought a radiomaster T8 pro transmitter and radiomaster R161 receiver. I don't know why but the receiver is not binding. I am not sure what I am doing wrong since they are both compatible they should bind. Do I have to flash the transmitter?
 
Hi if you look in the manual if it's the old style receiver you have to use a bind plug , it's just a servo plug with a loop wire this put receiver into bind mode then turn on transmitter in bind mode also and it should then link up
 
Hey Neil thanks for your reply. The R161 has a bind button, I followed the steps on the manual yet the receiver still wasn't binding that is why I was asking if it would be worth flashing the transmitter with the latest firmware version.
 
It is always worth updating , also when you bind you need to be over 6 feet away to make sure the range of the transmission is full range
