Too zippy quad

Say we have a quad that is simply to fast and agile for our current skill level. We don't want to spend the money for lower voltage batteries to slow the quad down a bit. Can we just use smaller props? Looking at prop data, different props will turn at different speeds on the same motor at the same power level. Not sure if a smaller prop would actually work. If so, how would you determine which prop to use? Thanks so much for your thoughts and ideas.

Smalle props would do it I suppose, but you'd be better off just to adjust stick scaling down and fly it with lower stick inputs.

Thank you, gentlemen. I know the question was quite vague, and I apologize. Just not experienced enough to put it in better terms. Do I understand that it would be better to adjust the FC rather than install a smaller prop and risk lowering efficiency and run time? If so I definitely need to start learning cleanflight.
