Thrust Issues

My friend helped me build my quad. Both built on the MWC X-mode Alien chassis, and both use the MT2213 935kv EMAX motors w/1045 props. Both also run a 3S 5000mah battery, the same exact brand.

The first, (his)Quad #1, I built using a MultiWii Pro 3.0, from whitespy, and hobbyking red 30A ESC's & deans connectors. The second, (mine)Quad #2, uses a Naza-M Lite w/Multistar 20A ESC's ... which were strangely within spec for the motor, and XT60 connectors. Both use a Turnigy 9x...

Quad #1 flies great. It has good balance, good thrust & throttle, and the battery life is reasonable... even with a gimbal and GoPro.

Quad #2 doesn't. It has ok throttle for about 5 minutes, then it can barely maintain altitude... and that's without a gimbal or GoPro.

I've adjusted and configured the throttle curve and gains on the Naza & 9x without much luck. Modes don't change the thrust level much either. My question. Since the quads are so similar in other areas, is it the Naza or 20A ESC's causing the issue? After some research, I have determined a 4S is probably the best option for the size & weight... but since the first quad flies so well with the 3S, even weighing a little more, I thought the second should too.

Ideas? Thanks!

Hi mate does it start out ok then loose power, if yes then check the naza for the battery save menu its may be going into power reduce as it has hit the limit set in the software, you can set it to 3.5v a cell
If its not this then it could be the ESC can you give me a link the ESC may have the lipo save like the Naza
In the naza it comes under advanced then battery

I did not think it was the ESCs, I think your right from what I could find online. The ESCs would probably burn out before causing a problem.

Some ESCs have lipo protection and its in 3 stages off, low or high and this shuts power off to a landing

Here are my current settings, if I'm in the right place.
Advanced>Voltage
First level Protection
No Load 11.20v Loss.5 v Loaded 10.7v
Second Level Protection
No Load 11v Loss .5 v Loaded 10.5v
The only cell I can edit is the loss, and only up to 1 v.
Thanks for the reply

When I rotate CW it will tick back CCW. This doesn't happen regularly and it only turns a small amount, probably less than 5 deg. Any ideas?
Thanks

That sound like stop gains there is Yaw gain in the basic set up on naza assist I never needed to play with them so try changing them just keep note of what they are now so you can go back if you need to , but I think when you test it needs to be in manual mode
