This is an unbelievable email trail that I have had with DJI Support.
For newbees information, start at the bottom and work up.
I am completely dumbfounded and truly amazed that you would ask such a stupid question as, “How is it that you are attempting to connect it to your mobile device and controller?”
You are part of a support team and have no idea how the product you are giving advice about, functions. Take time out on giving advice about something you obviously have no knowledge of and read the Quick Start Guide for the Phantom 3. I believe that will answer your ignorant question. You people truly beat everything. It boggles my mind that DJI has come up with such a fantastic machine and then handed customer relations over to people who haven’t even read the manual.

There are no specs other than "micro usb cable" that we can offer, They are pretty generic. How is it that you are attempting to connect it to your mobile device and controller? can you send a photo of what you received from us compared to what you purchased separately?

That seems rather convoluted. Can’t you just tell me the nomenclature of the USB Micro Cable you supply with the Phantom 3 so I can order it on line? I am 86 years old and can no longer hop around town visiting electronic stores.
I’m afraid DJI Support rather sucks, but does excel at passing the buck.

Dear ChrisMohrSr,
Thank you for contacting DJI Technology. We are a North American Customer Service and Repair facility.
You can take the cable and your mobile device to a local electronic store and see if they carry the cable you need and test in in your mobile device before you purchase it. Unfortunately its a generic micro USB connection that it would need.

Thank you for your reply.
My mobile device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab4 and the USB Micro Cable I got with my Phantom 3 Advanced is the one I am using and it fits perfectly as I said before. The problem is that it is quite long. A 12 inch cable would be perfect.
However, as I said before I have now acquired six 12 inch long USB Micro Cables, none of which fit the receptacle on my Samsung Galaxy Tab4. Please tell me how I may acquire a USB Micro Cable like the one supplied with the Phantom 3, but only 12 inches long.
If the 58 inch cable supplied with the Phantom 3 fits my mobile device, why don’t the six 12 inch long cables I have acquired fit my mobile device? There are obviously two different USB Micro Cables, but I have never seen any mention of that in any of the literature for any product.
I am quite confused by all this and would forever appreciate any sense you can make of it for me.

The USB cable we provide is a micro USB cable, This is a standard USB connection for most mobile devices these days, What type of mobile device are you attempting to use with your unit?

The micro cable that I have to connect my mobile device to my Phantom 3 Controller is quite a bit too long. I tried to order a 12 inch micro cable, which would be perfect.
So far I have ordered six 12 inch micro cables, all of which are useless for my purpose. Not one of them fit the receptacle on my mobile device. The long one I am using fits and functions perfectly.
Why the hell do the other six not fit? Is there some secret code word I must use to get the proper fitting micro cable?
The fact that DJI does not have a manual for the Pilot App is bad enough, but what is this **** with the micro cables?
Please don’t send me a damn form letter. That would add severe insult to the injury DJI has already inflicted upon me.
