A friend of my daughters..at her office...has a husband who recently bought a Syma x8.... From a workmate...
Apparently it worked OK till he lost it on what was intended to be a turn....and it dropped about 15 feet. I guess he let the power off trying to apply some yaw.
Now he says it lifts a few inches and thats it.
I offered all the check the motors for dirt ..bent shaft, knocked off the gear stripped gears, bent props. Recalibrate the gyros. Beg and plead, offer it a day by the beach and any other good stuff....it still won't lift off.
Any ideas?

Man. When a day at the beach doesn't work you've got big problems........ :) Have you checked the battery? Sometimes the damage after a crash isn't readily apparent. Give it a test and make sure it is taking a charge. I had one that physically looked ok after a crash but would discharge pretty quickly on its own. I didn't catch it until I noticed it getting warmer than it should. Recycled that puppy immediately! That is the extent of my technical skills. The only other thing I can think of is a FCB not allowing the full range of throttle input. Can't help you there. Good Luck!

Just got an email - seems the problems is cured. In teh list of my "checks" - when he got to the gears - he diced to grease them.... he says its Ok indoors ie above 4 inches! and will fly outdoors when the wind drops.
That's the second to mention of grease on gears that I have seen. Must remember that one!
