Syma X5C Controller - sound stays on, nothing else works

Hi folks! Total newbie here. I'm trying to help a neighbor's kid get her X5C drone to work. When we turn on the controller, the loud sound turns on and doesn't stop. We tried turning on the copter, then moving the left joystick up and down (as instructed to connect the controller & copter), but nothing happens, and that very loud and annoying sound keeps going and going...and going... Ideas?

Would need to hear/see it I think at the least. Quads make all sorts of loud sounds but if someone here who has one sees vid of some known behaviour to them then will be more likely to get a good response.

Good idea, thanks! I'll post a video tonight. But it's pretty straightforward. I turn the controller on, and I hear "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..." until I turn it off. :)

Must be the flux capacitor make sure you feed it enough banana peels :D

Usually outside of bleeps and bloops and motor wiring noises and prop wind sound there shouldn't be a ton of noise it could be some gears grinding if the model uses brushed motors and plastic gearing to get the right torque/speed.

Make sure the left control stick is all the way down before you turn it down. Is the copter turned on?
