Suggestions for parts?

I've purchased the Turnigy Talon Quadcopter (V2.0) Carbon Fiber Frame 550mm.
The plan is to build one for doing a bit of aerial photography.
I'm looking for suggestions for motors, ESC's, flightcontrollers, GPS, transmitters, batteries, etc.
Too much information here is preferred as I don't mind sifting through it and doing more research.
Your personal preferences and experiences would be appreciated as that would be more helpful than what I've read on the .com sites so far.
Thanks muchly.

Welcome to the forum! Here is a list of my favorite brands for your V2.0. These products are very good quality and will keep your quad and camera equipment safe. If you crash it won't be from parts failure. For the motors and ESC's I'm going to link you to the manufacturers sight because the specifications will be more accurate than that from vendors;

I recommend the 700KV version for your use. They will perform very efficiently with lots of lift on a 12" prop and a 3s battery like;

These ESC's are small, light, cool running and can operate at 600hz. They require no programming. Just install and fly. They are opto for efficiency so you will need a UBEC;

Can handle up to 10a. Electrically silent. You can mount it next to your Rx with no issues. Can handle more than 1 device.
You can find all of these online at good prices.
For a controller;

I LOVE this controller! It is complete and very compact. It has every feature you will need. It has some of the best gyro's, altimeter, barometer etc. in the business. I would sleep with it if my wife would let me:D.
This build is likely to exceed your budget unless you want to bottom feed. In that case you will need other advice. I don't go there. For radios I would suggest Futaba, Spektrum and Taranis. Consider looking at the radio as a tool. A good radio will be with you from model to model for many years. There are often good deals on slightly used radios on ebay and even on Amazon.
Cameras and even gimbals are also a transferable item from quad to quad and can also be a one time expense.
I would strongly suggest that you avoid buying direct from China for now. They are in chaos. They have been shipping a lot of copies, clones and even used merchandise advertised as new. Always use PayPal and try to buy from US locations. Hobby King for example has 2 US warehouses. Amazon is hassle free and often competitive as are US shippers on ebay.
Oops. Almost forgot about props;

Either of these will get you started. The wood core ones are becoming all the rage now. They do perform well but I doubt they will replace a really good CF prop.
Hope this gives you some ideas for your build. Welcome to the disease, I mean hobby!!:rolleyes:

I have really grown to love the quality and performance of dji's tuned systems. Look at a closeup of the windings. This stuff is a little pricy, but it is high quality.
