suggestions for first radio ?

on my Windows 10 I couldn't get the FTDI working so I installed a virtual machine with Windows 7 to use MultiWiiConf, but on Betaflight I get: "no response received from 10 seconds, connection failed". I think I can't use it if my firmware is MultiWii.
I know that to arm/disarm motors using sticks is dangerous, but I won't do acrobatics and I removed the propellers, anyway it doesn't work even if via MSP it did.
I also tried to configure in MultiWiiConf to arm the motors with AUX1 on high value, but I don't know on my tx which channel is AUX1, anyway I tried all switches on high value, but nothing happens.

about the flight controller upgrade, I found tons of different Omnibus F4 versions: aio, flip 32, micro, mini, pro, v2, v3, etc.
is there any important difference? (just need good hovering and GPS)
Omnibus F7 is much more expensive?

I highly recommend the airbot omnibus f4 V5 from getfpv.com although they're out of stock right now.

Looks like the same price from banggoood though. Well worth the 5-10 $$ more, it's my favorite board.

Aux1 is whatever you set it to via settings if you plug the tx into a PC
What type of inputs are there on the tx.
USB? S-video

Just apply Aux1 - arm to SWA or SWB
Which are the outside 2 position on my Tx.
If its a 6ch tx there must be 2 Aux switches
A 2 position & a 3 position.
Aux2 would be setup as modes
Angle horizon & acro as default.

You need to plug it into a PC as there is no menu 'screen on this tx.
Find auxiliaries settings & set ch5 as Aux1 then ch6 as Aux2.
Are any of the 2 toggle switches a 3 position switch. If so, setup modes on that switch.
I can't find any info on what cable is needed to use for pc.

the tx has only a micro USB port
via USB I read that I can only update the firmware and run Simulator Mode, I didn't try yet but connecting to the pc (WIN10) no autorun starts, I don't know if is there a software to install.
how do I apply AUX1 (arm/disarm) to SWA ?
for the moment I'll fly only in angle mode as I'm still practicing

In the menu.
Touch spanner on start screen then it's right there, Aux channels.

as shown in the manual in chapter 6.3 Aux. Channels I can only set the type of control for each channel: Nul, VRx, Stx and SWx, but not sure what they mean

On my old FS i6 tx, the Vrx is a swisty nob on yours it maybe a slider.
The Stx & Swx maybe toggle switches.
No idea what nul is it maybe another type of Vrx as my i6 has Vra1 & Vra2 which are both twisty nobs like what is on the middle of the evo.

Oh yes on closer inspection of the pic I posted there is 2 nobs.
They may be for fine tuning somthing.
Ive never used them.
But they can be setup as Aux switches.
You have to setup the ranges in in modes tab by moving the sliders.

I guess you meant twisty knob, so the VrA, a potentiometer I think.
I have SwA, SwB and SwC, maybe Stx is in other transmitters.
probably Nul stands for null i.e. disabled.
what I don't understand is how to set up channels to AUXs correspondence, e.g. if I want to set up SwA for AUX1 to arm/disarm motors

Ch6 is aux2
So you have to plug it into a PC and set ch5 which is auxiliary input1 as SWA
Then same with ch6 which is Aux2 set that to whatever you like.

Same on the evo sticks are the 1st four channels the other 2 can be set to whatever you have available.

You need to be looking for some type of channel assignment in the menu.
On my i6 if I press Aux channels in the setup menu. You can change the assignment on that screen.
eg
Channel 5 swa
Channel 6 swb
Channel 7 swc
Channel 8 swd
Channel 9 vra
Channel 10 vrb

I just use the up down & OK button to select them. You can. Change the order to whatever. But then I have to hold cancel to save them.

so ch5 is aux1, ch6 is aux2 and so on ?
this evening I'll set Channel 5 to swa.
but if I tried to move all the switches in all positions the motors should have been armed, unless ch5 was set to nul (disabled?) but I don't think so...

Yes I believe that to be correct, Unless it's still on the default which is stick arming.
The range for null or vra would have to be set in the range on the modes tab for it to be activated.
Do this by moving the slider.
As you turn the knob there is a little mark that moves as you turn it.
The slider is above it & can be moved & made bigger or smaller.
If that mark falls in the range of the slider then it is on.
The toggle switches are just low & high
Or low medium high.
These are set, all you can do is change the slider to match these.
You may note there is no acro in modes, only angle & horizon, but the 3rd position of the switch is acro mode by default.
But do not put the range slider for horizon much further than the mark for it.
If you do want to select acro for any reason it may not work as the range will coincide with it. The sliders are setup into 3x1/3 anyway so for angle & horizon they should be ok. It's done automatically.
Null VRA VRB can be set anywhere you want unlike the toggle switches.

at the moment my FC is set up as in the image, I'll try to check the ARM on AUX1 high level, and I'll verify if it works via MSP, then I'll try via PPM using the transmitter.
