Solderin Questions

I am hoping to build my first quadcopter and need advise regarding soldering.

I bought a HAKKO 888DX, will this be adequate even for the heavy battery connector cable.
I would also like advise on what tip or tips to use, I note there are very small pads on the
FC along with some larger ones too, am new to soldering so would probably not get away
with using just one tip for all connectors.

Soldering wire, I ordered some Kester 285, it is 0.64 mm with a RMA core.
I was afraid to order thicker wire as being new to this I did not want to bridge
all the small pads by using larger solder wire, or use more heat than neccesary to
melt a larger wire. Did I get thi wrong.

Any help regarding what tips and temperatures to use for the various joints on this FC would be appreciatd.

Thanks.

Hi heat is very important when soldering , big fat battery leads needs to be hot tin the lead and the connector use a big fat soldering tip so you can transfer heat in to the joint , use soldering flux this cleans the joint and aids the flow of solder , for the FCB tabs use a fine tip , use just enough heat to melt the solder , there would be YouTube videos on how to solder

Thanks @holtneil , I will look at the videos linked, I did find many soldering videos, but not any so far that stated what size tip to use, they sometimes gave temperature used.
I have ordered a good selection of tips which should arrive in a few days.

Hi that's great ,the thicker the wire the bigger the tip to use this is because the thick wire will remove the heat from the tip very quickly so it will not solder correctly

Thanks @holtneil , I think my next challenge will be seeing the joints, my eyes are getting no better, the most frustrating thing of all is I used to be a welder, could see a crack in a hair, but this has all changed as of late, just hoping to get this quadcopter built before I run out of time.
