I am glad they made it a fed offense to shoot down a drone. Idiots would feel too free to do stupid things. There have been too many incidence where people have shot down drones for no reason. . Case in point.

I fly a racing kwad. I make it a point to be safe. I never fly in populated places where clear and adaquate room to fly is not available. I make sure I am not flying in restricted air space.

I take a lot of care to make sure I am being responsible.

I am not the only one. It is clear that the majority of rc flight hobbyists are.

There is no reason to shoot down a drone.
 
Till one day a small plane flys in your airspace, below 400' & although you are in the right. Some ppl on this forum will insist it be your fault if anything happens though.

Not sure how that relates to someone shooting down your drone.

People get too wound up. A lot of the time it's someone freaking out about a drone "filming" them. But the bottom line it is not illegal to film anyone in public. The only issue you would have is if you asked someone to pose. Then you could get sued because you own the money. Because they are technically "modeling" at that point.

I do all the above & check Notam's.
A small plane was buzzing me for about 40min, the whole story is on here in a post somewhere. But a certain person says I'm in the wrong. Which I don't agree with. So I throw a jibe every time he comments in this section. he's knows I'm right.
He's still looking at it as a cop.
But he has some nice models though.
