So I Think I Messed Up...

Alright so I'm building a Tarot Iron Man 650 using, DJI E600 Propulsion System (comes with ESC's), Spektrum DX6i w/receiver, and some other bells and whistles. I wasn't wanting a real fancy flight controller for my first build, just something to do the basics, so I bought a CC3D flight controller kit. I believe that I may just need to go ahead and upgrade to a better flight controller though because I will install GPS telemetry etc in the future. I was thinking about getting the Naza because I've read its not too incredibly complicated, and its a good product. The CC3D just doesn't do enough, and if I'm going to upgrade in the future, I'd rather just have the necessary flight controller. Thoughts??

thanks

Yeah, Naza or maybe APM. both are great, in this case you really get what you pay for.

I would recommend the Tarot ZYX-M if you are going to go for the naza lite or the naza v2, and not thinking about going with the H3-3D, or H3-4D.

You will get a lot more flight controller with better position hold, and more functions for a lot less.

I am really impressed with the dji tuned propulsion systems. I have had the e600, e800, and the e1200.

Here is a video I shot when I first setup a 680 with the e600 motors, Tarot ZYX-M, and the T4-3D gimbal. It's a solid flight controller especially for the price. I have an A2 mounted right now, and it is not much better than the zyx-m when it comes to flight characteristics imo.

You will have to post some video once you have it setup, or post a build log :)

I've seen your video on YouTube before, great stuff and beautiful build! I think I may go with the Naza, only because I've already got one DJI product, might as well be redundant. Here' s a picture of where I'm at right now. I plan on re-doing the PDB, its now faulty but I think I want it more organized.

Looking good!

I use copper clad laminate board loaded with solder for my pdb on my tarot.

The Naza is a great controller too :)

Are you planning on getting the Naza v2 or the Naza Lite and flashing the v2 firmware?

You can use the lite flashed with v2 firmware for the mini iosd module(fpv), bluetooth connection (for tuning), but you will have to purchase the v2 pmu, and they run 60+. The v2 connects to satellites in around 15 seconds after the initial startup, and the lite will always take a minimum of 90+ seconds. So I would recommend the v2 over the lite.

In-case the tarot fc is still on the table I have a pros and cons listed in the link below

Are you planning on retracts in the future?

How do you flash the firmware? Also I more than likely won't add retractable gear until much later with an octo. I have an issue though, I've been trying to find out how to setup the DX6i for the Naza but haven't had any luck. Do you know of any good videos on it? Also probably a stupid question, but can you set up the battery checker/alert in flight?

No such thing as a stupid question imo.

Read here for flashing.

I have the Taranis so I am unsure on yours, but, here is the way to set it up in the assistant software.
Connect your channels through traditional , d-bus, or ppm, and the software will recognize the one that it knows. I always use d-bus with my frsky rx so I only have one cable running from the rx to naza.

Also I just realized, my Dx6i didn't come with the charging cable.. It was brand new, is that usual? How do I connect to my computer?

Hi mate the DX6i does not it does not have a recharge battery pack the DX6 has , I used 2500 mah AA batteries in mine , the naza connects via a USB lead power it up and then open naza assist then click on upgrade , if there is an upgrade for it it will ask if you want to go ahead , I am Glad you went with the naza as you already have most of the system any way
