When i successfully complete step 2 of compass calibration the front leds are solid white and red and the rear leds are solid blue and red. When I perform step 3 and place the drone on the ground.the leds (front and back) start flashing again.
I've tried this in several locations with the same results. What is going on?

Try this, start the quad up do it's calibration procedure and then as last step try to turn on controller/transmitter and do a full throttle up and down, a lot of the times on the "off the shelf" ones this is a procedure for getting the remote to pair with the quad on first boot (perhaps it lost the binding somehow while changing batteries or otherwise if it is in some volatile memory instead of EEPROM/non-volatile storage)

Hrm yah not sure, make sure you follow the pair remote with drone steps and get the right lights off of the quad... according to manual the quad should always be powered before the controller (apparently controller scans for the quad on startup and will probably fall back into binding mode if it doesn't find the quad right away). If the binding works as expected then we can rule out the communication from the transmitter/controller to the quad being an issue, then just a matter of getting the second compass/GPS calibration to happen. Keep in mind GPS lock takes like a minute or so after a "cold start" at a given location to get a lock on the satellites, in theory you should be able to fly with GPS turned off just fine too but wouldn't be able to use GPS "position hold" or return to home type features.

Thanks very much. As i mentioned above, once I complete the compass calibration process the lights display as described in the manual. I set the drone down and the lights begin to flash. I cannot proceed with the gps calibration until they turn solid. That never happens and the drone eventually shuts down. I done this numerous times with the same result. I'm sure that doesn't mean I'm doing it correctly but i've had my friends involved so I'm pretty sure we are doing as the manual instructs.

Hi Yankeenica. Did you find a solution? I’m having the same issue. After several tries at calibration it did go solid once and was able to fly but after a battery charge it’s back to flashing again and I can’t seem to replicate what made it solid. All calibrations including the one that worked are done in exact same place.
