SJRC F11 - 1200m max follow me?

I set the drone to max distance (1200m) and hit follow me. Went out in the boat. But it hit a virtual wall - I think it stopped following me at something like 1200m and started hovering. Plenty of juice left and I was right below it. Does the follow-me limit itself to the max distance from point of take-off?

I'd love to see a 3rd party app capable of managing this drone... so many improvements that are software limited
 
When you arm before takeoff, it records that spot as your homepoint.. So yeah, whether you're walking, in a car or boat, when you get 1200m away from that recorded homepoint, it hit's the wall. I have a DJI Spark that I can change the settings so that the drone,s home point is the transmitter instead of the takeoff location, you could check your manual to see if your's has this feature
 
Forgot to change that setting and went a long way. When the battery went low, Sylvester went to fly back... No! Cancel that!4849
