Is there a way to silence the very annoying beeping?

So my WiFi dropping out figured out that deleting the SJ RC app off my iPhone and reinstalling it worked now I’m able to stay connected! Hope this helps someone else

Hi fellow rc pilots & rc enthusiasts

SJRC F11 Pro, MJX Bugs 4W, ZLRC SG906 Beast, SJRC F11 review camera shootout - Which video do you think is best?
I replicate 4 short flights with these great low cost GPS FPV Quadcopter Drones that all have min 1080p HD cameras as close as possible in the same weather conditions for comparison, but I do not disclose which video was taken with which drone,…yet. Please comment and say which video you think is best,…Drone 1, 2 , 3 or 4.
And,… I will also disclose which video was taken with which drone and the one that gets the most likes, votes or general consensus on this channel in one weeks time.

I was trying out my new F11 Pro and I discovered what I think is a serious bug/flaw.

I was using the GPS-based Follow Me mode (which works better than the image-recognition version) and it worked well until the drone exceeded the Flight distance set in the app settings (yes, beginner mode was turned off). When the drone followed me too far away from the takeoff point, it immediately flew back.

This seems like a bug in the firmware. The Flight distance should be from the current phone location, if available, or the takeoff point when no phone has connected. Certainly it should work this way in Follow Me mode, if not always.

Since you can only set a maximum Flight distance of 1200m, it limits how far the GPS-based Follow Me mode is usable. If you were, for example, riding a bike or slowly driving a car, it would be easy to exceed 1200m during the 25 minute flying time.To make matters worse, since the controller is with you, there is a real chance that you will lose control of the drone as it scurries back to the LZ 1200m away.

I thought there might be a workaround, such as setting the Flight distance to 0, to disable it. But the app won't allow that. Any suggestions?

Interesting. My understanding is that this should be related to the radio controller too, but I think that you need to use the app to take-off with, for this to apply.

Thanks for the suggestion. Thus far, I have only used the controller to do an automatic takeoff. I will test again using the app's takeoff button to see if the results are different.

BTW, are firmware updates out of the question for these cheap Chinese drones? It can be difficult even to see which company is actually behind the F11 Pro. Their Google Play Store Listing is obfuscated by a bad domain for the app itself (pro.gps.sj.macrochip.vison.com) and an e-mail contact of 535429817@qq.com. The privacy policy link (which is hand-verified by Google) at least gives a clue that Shiji Toys might be involved, even though that website doesn't list this particular drone (and there is no actual privacy policy there).

OK. I tried again today, using the takeoff button in the app. Same results.

You can try for yourself. To make things easy, set the Flight Distance to something small, activate the GPS-Based Follow Me mode and start walking away in a straight line. It will follow quite nicely for a while, but then the F-11 Pro will freak out and fly back to near the takeoff point.

My drone has Firmware V2.4.9. Is there a newer version available?

If the distance is limited, I guess one can reasonably expect this to do this.

That's just it. There is no way to set an unlimited Flight Distance. The farthest that can be set is 1200 meters, which would be easy to exceed using GPS-Based Follow Me mode on a bicycle or in a car.

I only suggested a short distance for easy testing purposes. I have tried with longer distances and the same thing happens. In fact, the issue is much worse with longer distances because where the drone decides to hurry back to could easily be out of reach of the remote control. It would be great if I could get confirmation that this happens for other F-11 Pro users as well.

Since a firmware update is probably out of the question, I may try to hack the app to see if I can make it set an unlimited, or much longer Flight Distance as a workaround for this serious flaw.

Hi Danie

Have a look at this video:

So, if the camera is not giving out a wifi signal, it would have to be replaced.

There is also a lot of help and ideas for this drone in this group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sjrcdrones/

Hope this helps.

Regards

Bill
