Second newbie question - stills

Hi all,

I have on order, to go with my Quanum Nova, a Quanum 2 axis gimbal and a Turnigy Action cam. The camera is the wifi version (I do not expect to use the wifi feature as it will interfere with the 2.4ghz quad...plus I doubt the range will be 'all that')

So to the question. I guess most simply turn their camera on to capture video before taking off and then they can happily edit these bits out if they want. That's fine...but I'm really a stills photographer at heart. It isn't why I ordered either the quad or the camera but it'd be nice if I could capture decent stills..how would it be possible to do this in mid flight? Is this even possible with this sort of camera?

Hi mate in the video edit system your be able to take still shots off the video ,like this one the pic is ok as my camera is old now but a newer camera would be better so pics will come out better

So you reckon the only way to get stills (unless you have a setup with the ability built in) from a setup like mine (if it ever arrives) would be to capture frames from the video? That is less than useful to me, I am a professional photographer as it happens. I'm not particularly interested in doing this for financial reward

[Rant alert...I looked at the regulations as they are currently in the UK. How the heck are you actually supposed to get this fabled permission exactly? Typical UK stifling entrepreneurs with endless unfathomable red tape..and of course there is always a cost..rant over...]

but it'd be nice if I could get some properly composed and exposed shots. Doing that with screen grabs isn't really what I had in mind. If it aint possible though, then fair enough I guess!

Hi you can do Photos with a pro camera , but your need a really good gimbal and a lot of PROs are a 2 man team 1 flys the other does the camera on a remote gimbal so your need a second remote
The quads like the one you have coming is for fun flying and racing then you put the videos on you tube this would be a better set up for what you want , But its not cheap £1800+

Sorry for any confusion..I'm only interested in doing this for fun as it happens. What I meant was, As a professional photographer I would also be interested in being able to somehow use the stills capturing abilities of the camera mid flight (but for fun, not for financial gain) and wondered if it were possible to trigger the shutter remotely, rather than just shooting video and taking individual frames as stills. There isn't any chance (unless I won the lottery) I could possibly afford a quad capable of carrying one of my DSLR cameras.

The process of composing and exposing properly a still image is very different from grabbing frames from a video. With the action cam having a usb interface I wondered if there was some sort of gizmo one could buy and fit to the quad allowing for a remote activation of the shutter, and possibly even remote control of the settings but there doesn't appear to be. Never mind!

They do have cameras that fit to the quads that do video or stills , but what they do is take a photo every 10 seconds till you turn it off , I dont know how good it will be
