Question about UDI U818A WiFi FPV as a gift

Hello,

I was asked to look into getting drone as a gift for a family member so I thought I would inquire here.

I don't think that building a custom makes sense in this case, at least not for a first go. I was looking for a FPV model that would work with a smart phone as the viewer. Other than it needing to cost approximately $200 or less I am more or less open to suggestions.

I found the UDI U818A WiFi FPV mentioned on another website.
https://www.amazon.com/Latest-U818A-Quadcopter-Drone-Camera/dp/B00SH3MU0U ($135)

The link at Amazon says it doesn't require FAA Registration. It's hard to imagine that the unit doesn't weight more than 0.55lb so I am wondering if anyone knows about that for sure.

There were suggestions that batter life and range may be an issue. Retailers seem to be running out of many models of drones, so I don't want to wait too much longer. Is this a reasonable option for the price range or is there something else I should be considering.

The Syma X5SW
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1LQEO1/ref=twister_B01N7COULO?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 ($65)
also seems to be well regarded and is about half the price. Are there opinions here on which would be preferable?

P.S. I could go over $200 if there was a good reason to.

Thanks very much for any suggestions,

Im not familiar with that particular quad but I can give you a bit of advice. If the recipient of this quad is a first timer with no experience, dont even venture into fpv just yet. One needs to learn to fly first, and flying fpv is not easy. Youtube videos are deceptive. It takes ALOT of practice to fly through a building in fpv!! You can buy a decent quad with a camera on it to record your flight and then watch on your tv or ipad etc for under a hundred bucks. Well under actually. Theres gonna be alot of crashes in the beginning so my advice is to start off cheap and work up.
