Quadcopter has too much throttle

Hello everyone,
I've got a 250 size quadcopter here, naze32 rev 6, lumenier 2206 2350kv motors, 5040 props on 4s. When I try to fly it, this little rocket does not like to descend. I can't get the throttle low enough. When I reduce the throttle, too low and the motors stop and the quad loses control, too high and the thing starts climbing again. I can't reduce throttle low enough. I've tried setting throttle curve on the naze but no joy. How can I get the throttle low enough or desensitized enough to get the quad to descend?

I don't think it has anything to do with PIDS. How do your end/mid points look.

mine looks like this:

min: 1150
mid: 1500
max: 1850
min com: 1000
the min throttle is actually the min of the escs, any lower and the motors don't spin up.

If your quadcopter is stable leave the PIDs to be as they are hahaha, but if the quad has too much throttle for your controls adjust the stick scaling AKA expo, and maybe the throttle authority in motor mixer if that is available to you and only as a last option. Your ESCs or flight controller may have a minimum throttle setting, both for different reasons.

I have tried expo, but I'm not sure how it works. I can see the throttle mid, but to get a stable hover on my quad, the mid has to be pretty much zero, how do I set up expo?

So are you adjusting the expo on the FCB or Tx? Expo stands for exponential.

Here is a quick example of the effects of exponential gain

y represents the output signal or power for your purposes, and x is how far the stick is. The purple line represents a 'throttle curve' with expo, and the black line represents where it would be without expo.

On the naze32. I get the curve part, but when I test fly it, the throttle mid at zero, I find that the min throttle capable is still too high to descend. I have set throttle min to 0.

Try setting your throttle mid just a bit higher.

I have a DX6i, which doesn't support throttle curve in acro mode.

You can use an idle up setting on the tx to give a minimum throttle setting which will stop the esc's shutting off the motors when you stick down. Once you have done that you can set your mid stick hover point and use the exponential or throttle curve function to desensitise the throttle in the bottom half of the travel.

This may be obvious, but you haven't got brake enabled on the ESC's have you?

I have had the same problem,, when descending there was not enough throttle to stay stable and the quad was falling rather than flying..
a small adjustment to the throttle and the quad would accelerate up making landings very hard and frightening..

I tried throttle curves and so on, but only got it sorted when ringalong mentioned recalibrating the TRANSMITTER again...

simple operation and it gave me control of throttle,,, landings on descending are now no problem....

Recalibrating the throttle range on the ESCs would also help. Also once fixed remember that when you land you don't have to slowly take your throttle to 0 like most new people try to do. You can cut throttle just enough that is starts descending and just wait until you are on the ground to cut throttle any lower.
