Quad won't get off the ground!

Hi,
I need help figuring out why my quad is not lifting off. I have read through many forums and tried everything I but it still does not work.
Parts:
  • Hk 2.o flight controller
  • Turnigy 8 channel reciever
  • Turnigy TGY 9x transmitter
  • 4 Turnigy plush 30 amp esc
  • Turnigy 2650 mah nano tech battery
  • 4 1000 Kv brushless motors
  • 2 cw props
  • 2 ccw props
In my early tests I had a short as soon as i plugged in the battery due to a switch that i had not properly insulated. i did not want to replace the flight controller at but did replace all other components.
Symptoms:
  • quad will try to flip over
  • at full throttle it will not lift off the ground
  • at low throttle motors do not spin in sync
If you have any questions please let me know.
I will post a link to a video later.

Hi mate once the motors are spining in the right direction , if you go into the menu on the KK I thin k its ( misc section) you have a throttle setting it normally 10 by default change this a few points at a time till all motors start and stop at the same time

I changed that setting to as low as it could go, until just holding the transmitter would start the motors spinning, but they still would not spin in the right direction.

I will be working on this project again next week when I finally have some free time. Would posting videos help diagnose any problems? If so, how should I shoot the video to make it easier to see any problems that arise?

Do you have them wired correctly? There should be 3 wires from your motor, and three wires from your esc. On two of them all wires should be going straight (ccw motors) and on two of them any two wires should be switched, it doesn't matter which ones (cw motors)

Hi mate looking to the quad from the back the motors are front left CW spin front right CCW
Back left CCW back right CW , and like the guys have said if the motor is going the wrong way just swap any 2 wires on that motor , the min throttle does not work that way it only goes from 10 up to 20 it's in the miscellaneous file you use this to get all the motors to spin up at the same time , once all the motors responding the right way then 're-calibrate the ESCs
Also make sure the props are the right way up and are the right way for the direction the motor turns
As for the main throttle setting don't go over 90 you need headroom so the fcb can speed up the motors to control the quad

Thanks for the help you guys. My quad won't try to flip anymore, but it does drift towards either side. I have tried trimming on the transmitter but am not able to get it stable enough for a vertical takeoff. Any other suggestions?

Have made sure that all the inputs from the transmitter into the board are at zero in the monitor screen , they need to read zero as the board will see any thing else as an input , also check CG of the quad it has to balance you can some times move the battery a little to balance the quad

Okay, thanks. I will definitely try this next.

Thanks a lot you guys. I think everything is working the way it is supposed to. At this point I just need to figure out how to trim it correctly. It wants to flip again but this is probably due to the trim not being correct, right?

Depends, what mode are you in? You might be able to trim using receiver sliders on the program you tune your FCB with. Otherwise hover it off the ground and trim it close enough.
