Problems at a distance

So I took my X525 out to a large field for the first time, up until now I have test flown it in our large garden (100' x 40').

I took it up into a hover at about six feet and sent it off, I didn't take it to far before returning it still orientated away from me. I enjoy the sound of the props as I reverse direction and mess about with that for a bit.

Then I took it out to about 200 to 250 feet and about 15 feet high, this is when I got into difficulties, I couldn't properly see its orientation and I took it a little left using Aileron and nothing happened and so tried again, nothing and so I tried a little more aggression and then I was out of control.

Obviously small manoeuvres at that distance are harder to see, its a clear day and I always see dancing lights in my vision when looking at the sky. The result was one broken landing gear and so I attached the broken piece loosely for c of g purposes.

Again I did the same and so now I have three broken landing gear, a slightly bent prop but everything else survived.

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Only make small, but drawn out movements when you are at a distance, large quick ones will cause bad problems haha.

I have also cracked a motor mount.
Yes I think this will take a lot of hours to learn, I'm okay within 50 feet.
Maybe fpv with a monitor on the transmitter would be an idea

this was a video of me losing orientation at a distance. Playing that back, I think I might have yawed left while rolling right instead of doing a proper banked turn, and since it was far away, silhouetted, and didn't do what I expected it to, lost orientation. Not sure how I managed to get quite so much sideways speed up though.

A good tip if you lose orientation, which I picked up from somewhere else on this forum is to let go of the right stick until the quad is stationary in the air, then push stick forwards gently till you can see it moving - if it moves leftwards, yaw left (gently) and it'll come round to face you, if it moves rightwards, yaw right

Hi Zec use leds on the arms red back white front and if you look at mine I also have a yellow ball up front

Its a handful to fly its turn slow but gets up a lot of speed , the 450 is just a rocket ship 1200kv motors short flight time but very fast

I was surprised at how quick the 525 was, 800kv motors but it still covers a lot of ground quickly.
I'm going to replace the motor mounts as they are crap and I want to make it different but unsure how to at the moment.
I took the x5c-1 along as well, amazing little machine but hard to see because of its size.

On e bay they made alloy motor mounts for the x525 , or get carbon fibre sheet and cut some out with a dremel
