Patriot Missile used to shoot down drone!

:eek: ... Burn a 2-4 Million dollar missile to shoot down a 2-4 Hundred dollar drone ?! ... smh ...

I think the scenario was possibly a life and death situation..........terrorist drone.

From Article...............there were several places the whole thing could have taken place. It could have been a Hezbollah or Hamas drone shot down by Israel, or a Houthi rebel drone shot down by the United Arab Emirates.
 
Well of course there is a better way. And the article alluded to that.

But if it was your butt as the planned target??? What would tell your government??
Forget saving me.........don't shoot the missile???

There are DoD civillian companies designing defence systems for smaller UAVs, but currently there is no contract to produce them. Sadly with this the DoD's acqusitions things like this take a lot of time, usually years to get a fully mission capable system. Until then I suppose the military is using what is currently availible. In my opinion using any part of the BMDS or Air defence systems is a big overreaction.


My opinions views do NOT represent the USAF or DoD, I am just an individial with an opinion.

Again, that depends if your butt was on the line or not. I agree it is overkill. Butttt

If I find a rattlesnake in my backyard and the only thing I have is my .44 mag, so be it. I am not running back to house to get my .22

Exactly hahaha, however rather than a rattlesnake this was a chipmunk :p


They probably had no other way, or knew of no other way to react in a timely manner so I certainly see the rationale.
