Parts Help, First Time Part Buying.

Hello everyone, I am a complete nub with quadecopters and other multirotors however I have been tasked to build one for a school film project. I was wondering how I can get the best preformance out of certain esc's and motors and how I can choose a battery to work with everything.
I have a frame already but I don't know how to buy the right electronics.

Can anyone help?

We sure can hahaha. First question is where are you flying, what are you carrying, and what is your budget.

outside and maybe over people
A 450-500 class would be just fine, as you don't have to fly over people (you should never fly over people and if you did you should have them sign something, for example on a ticket for them to get in)

I'm considering in time to upgrade to a larger camera so some more power would be handy
More than a GoPro? If you mean DSLR that puts you from hobbist to professional, so you would have to spend a lot more than with just a GoPro to lift it.

A Quad is fine for a gopro and gimbal, some 900kv motors and 12'' props would do it, or you could go with a hexacopter design for a little more.

Quad frame I have and I will stay with a GoPro I am a newbie at this stuff, I have flown out of the box quads before but never built my own so on the electronics side I need help making a parts list. So you recommend 900kv motors, 12inch props, what ESC's should I get? And in terms of a flight controller what do you recommend on a budget? I am assuming I will have to run this on 3 cell?

Thanks For all your help!

Lower KV and bigger props lifts more and does better flight time. 30amp-40amp ESCs are what i'd suggest depending on what your motor draws.

So if I got a combo pack like a
"MultiStar & Afro Combo Pack - 2216-800KV and Matched 20A Afro ESC" Then it would be able to lift more. and If I combined this with a 12inch prop
and a "Hobbyking KK2.1.5 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control" Then would you think its a decent combination for the cheaper price?
Would you recommend different components?
And something I'm not clear about(and there are controversial comments online)

Thanks!

multistar is plenty good, though the ESCs sound small they would not have paired them if too far off.

if I used the orange transmitter/receiver series from hobby king do you think I will have any issues?

What do you think about the flight controller (last message)

Orange is good, but just keep in mind that they make a lot of accessories for other transmitters, so just because something is orange brand does not mean it will work on any of their products.
I did not see a FCB listed above, can you re post haha

It is great, make sure to get a flash tool, as the stevies 1.8 firmware is great.

I have the flash tool, how about batteries? Is there a specific type? I am assuming 3 cell lipo but with the discharge rates and numbers and stuff how do I figure out which one to buy?

Get a list of parts and I'll walk you through the battery, usually you use 4S or 3S, 4S will generate more lift and be faster, 3S is better for longer flight time (depending if you are making a general setup or a more expensive endurance system). C rate: Ah*C = amp_output
Ah = mAh/1000. mAh is the capacity.
