I dont understand this OpenPilot schematic, where the hell ist it getting the PPM data from....the transmitter, or the receiver linked to the transmitter??????
Is it No longer using the transmitter from the Rc Controller (see red X thru the antenna)????
Is it now using UHF to transmit on????

Im sooo confused

That's cuz the 2.4Ghz signal is not being used with that setup.

If you look on the back of most TXs you'll see a port. Here's the FS-i6.

From the spec sheet we see.

DSC Port: PS2; Output: PPM

That's the port I use to hook up to FPV Freerider. To turn off the RF module (and and cut battery consumption to near zero) I put it in Trainer mode. Other TXs have the option to turn off the RF.

In the case of your pic here is how the connection ends up looking something like this.

Yes, with UHF it does extent the range considerably.

Most transmitters have a module bay at the back that you can added additional external antennas. A few examples is if you are using a reciever that is a different brand to your transmitter. You can buy a module that is compatible.

In jacksons diagram, he has a module that suites UHF for extra distance FPV flying.

To answer your first question, how does it send the pwm signal, the signals are sent down the link via oplink, rather than internal antenna.

You would still control it via the controller.

I dont think that my Flysky th9x transmitter has such output...it seems to only have a audio style jack on the back

You can change the module on your radio, you have to open up the panel above the audio jack you mention.

Sure it does, just a different jack as you've noticed.

DSC port: yes (3.5mm: output: PPM)
