I just picked up 2 new syma X1 models ( semi complete with no electronics) to do a nostalgic build...One with the "Space craft" body and one with the "UFO" body..I also managed to find new original Syma X1 FC's and X1 motors to add to it...The only thing sold out was the original transmitter but thats not really a bad thing as they gave very short range anyways (about 30m).
The X1 FC uses the flysky protocol which is compatible with many WL toys transmitters..One of these transmitters that work is the V911 transmitter used with the WL toys mini helicopters...I have one of these transmitters and plan to use it to control this build.
I wont be flying this much and its more something i want to keep as a shelf queen (nostalgic value) or as very limited flyer.
The second X1 i plan to do will be a much different story and will be named " Project X1-R" ..You wont want to miss that one.
I'll post up some pics of the X1's once they arrive..Shouldnt be too long as they are coming from the USA.
Some parts have showed up today but ,not the x1 quads just yet...I have two X1 FCB's and an original set of 7mm syma motors with 9T pinions which is basically all i need to finish the assembly of one quad minus original 350mah battery and TX which i will not be using or need.
The FCB'S syma used back then were only 3 axis and not the standard 6 axis we get now but, it was a very well programmed 3 axis FCB...It is very sensitive to needing to be level upon binding and calibration and leaves not much room for error...Even compared to its competitors, the wl toys v949 and v929, it is the most stable of the bunch. ..Unfortunately flight range has little to be desired and even reports of less than 30m have been reported.... For anyone that owns a V949 you can increase range and gain improved control to about 50m using the WL toys transmitter.
One transmitter that will wake this quad up big time is the Turnigy 9X which uses the flysky protocol...proper Setting of end points and sensitivity makes a HUGE difference in how this quad flys and can with any toy quad using a "real" transmitter to fly them...All of its potential is released, plus some ....Unfortunately i wont be experiencing all this and will just be happy that it lifts and flys using my WL toys V911 transmitter.

Both of the x1 quads were delivered today but not exactly what i expecting...I got the UFO canopy model as i wanted but i was sent the Hero RC version of the spacecraft model...I really wanted the red and white spaceship model...But here is where i guess i shouldnt complain...Both models came equipped with electronics and they werent supposed to...Both have an FCB and motors attached to the quads...So not much of a "build" here as they are already complete minus battery and binding to a transmitter.

If you don't mind, where did you purchase your parts from? I have an X1 that needs a little TLC and I want to get some replacements for it.
I order most everything from Aliexpress..just takes a while to get it...If you can wait for me to get back to the X1R build thread i started you may find it interesting.
What parts is it you need?....It shares the same motors,shafts, gears and even props as the newer x5 models which parts are very cheap for and you can find just about anyplace...If you need a flight board they cost around $15.00 from china...you can still buy a new x1 for around $35.00
