No stick movement in betaflight

I have been building my first 210 quad, everything has gone smoothly until i tried setting up the reciever in betaflight. I am using a racerstar ESC/FC board and a FS-A8S reciever. I have succesfully flashed the board and soldered the reciever to the board using the PPM wiring. The reciever powers on, and binds to my transmitter, however i cannot get any inputs to register in betaflight reciever tab. They are stuck at 1500. Could this be a faulty RX?

I believe i have all the settings correct, i have changed the rx type to PPM under the configurations tab. However there is still no movement when i go onto the reciever tab.

Yes im pretty sure, in the transmitter menu i have selected “PPM output on”
The board itself says it supports Both PPM and SBUS. So i think they should work okay together.

Okay, dumb "?" but are you sure you're using the right wire from the Rx to the right pad on the FC.
More info on the rest of the set-up, and pics will help.

The reason i picked PPM originally is because my TX supports PPM/IBUS, whilst the FC supports PPM/SBUS. I read that IBUS and SBUS arent compatible, is this correct?

In the dropdown under sbus you will have the ibus option. I admit I hobble along on mostly ppm, but I'm pretty sure that is how I got the fs-x6b going on the one build I have using sbus.
