No, I'm too heavy!

Thanks. Yes I’m a bit “scary” to buy new motors. Because this would be the third time I buy new motors in 4 months haha! I know it’s a learning curve, but of course I have a certain budget. I prefer to buy everything from one company, in this case I bought a lot of stuff from Hobby King. I don’t want to look lazy (I’m not!), but if you need to advise me with motors from HK for a 1,8kg quad, 450mm frame, 10 inch props (or others), 30 amp ESC and 4s lipo. Could you suggest one? My goal is to build a stable strong quadcopter which I can use for shooting some videos. Budget between 10,- and 25,- euro per motor.

Thanks in advance!

Here are some nice motors, if you're going for longer flight times, and here are some nice ones for just flying, they have decent flight times. For a camera quad you'd be better off to buy 6 or 8 cheaper motors and make a hex or oct. A lot more stable, loads of thrust, and redundancy in the event of a failure.

What is wrong with your current motors?

I know a hex would be better but for now the focus is on my current equipment (use my current frame and speedcontrollers). So I hope it is possible just to get a little bit more lift from my quad by changing the battery and motors. When my quad is stable with and without camera then it's time to move to a hex (but first learning on the quad).

I have 4x

(but motors are getting hot and I have to give more than half throttle just to maintain hover).

I have 4x (2 burned)

So do you see any motors from HK in combination with a 4s lipo and 30amp speedcontrollers to get more lift? I have 1045 and 1047 props. If I need other props please let me know.

You over prop them?

I'm with you, Jurriaan. I like the look and simplicity of the quad. Unfortunately it seems you made the same mistake a lot of us make in the beginning. You bought inadequate motors because the price was so good. Cut your losses and get the SunnySky 2216 kv800 motors and12 x 3.8 CF props off ebay. They are within your stated budget and will fit your quad. On 3s they will lift what you have. On 4s you can take your cat for a ride......:D.

Hi mate a bit late on this thread the easy way to work it out is this , Total weight of quad and what its going to carry times it by one and a half then divide it by how many motors you want this will tell you how much thrust each motor has to make to fly , so as said some times 6 or 8 motors are better than 4

Actually, holtneils reply makes me wonder what you are hauling on your 450 that is making it so heavy? Do you have bundles of extra wiring tucked in there? Are you toting an SLR? The weight just seems out of wack some how. Anything extra on there you could eliminate?

Yes your right, I will have a look. In the near future I can buy some more for a hex :)

I bought a four in one speedcontroller. Lesson 1 for me, don't do that :) I think it was a faulty one and destroyed 2 motors

Thank you all for this input!

First of all, this afternoon I will buy a new scale haha… maybe an issue with the kitchen scale haha.. but I have nothing special on it. Just a F450 frame, landing gear, 4x speedcontrollers and motors, CC3D, CC3D case, gimbal, camera, gimbal mounts and tubes, 3s 2700mah lipo, led lights, voltage alarm, receiver, power distribution board, props, wires, screws.. you can see a picture in my first post.

My boy has a 450 with 1000kv motors I put his on 10x4.7 props and it flies really well its so good it gets 10/15 mins from a 2200mah 3 cell ,so I think motors are ok just need a good prop on them this is the cheapest way change props first if still no good look at motors

I have 11x4.7 props on my 450 quad and has very strong lift. Can't tell you exactly but going to put some fish scales on it next week and try to see how much lift it has left.
My configuration is here
I do use slower motors.
